Elance is pioneering a new way to work, helping small businesses level the playing field by providing them with instant access to great talent.

Reporting to the CMO, the Director, SMB Sales will define, design and execute the overall strategy and own the end-to-end client experience from initial contact to first hire on Elance.

This position is based in Mountain View, CA and, as a key member of the Sales and Marketing team, provides the leadership and direction necessary to create an environment that motivates a bright sales organization to drive client growth. In large part, success in this position will be dependent on several key factors:

•Executing on Elance' business strategy in order to drive dramatically client growth, as measured by new client posts and higher spend per client
•Leading and developing a talented team of high-performing sales professionals in a rapid-growth environment
•Proven track record building sales organizations that excel at outbound calling to small and mid-market businesses
•Lead the development of a consistent client sales strategy and own the delivery of end-to-end sales and onboarding customer experience
•Identifying specific market segments and their needs while seamlessly tailoring sales strategies targeting those segments

Qualifications:

•A seasoned career Sales professional with a minimum of 5 years of senior Sales experience in an organization that combines a highly recognized consumer and/or business-to-business brand and a reputation for outstanding customer satisfaction and retention
•A clear track record of leading dramatic growth across multiple channels for a company selling technology-related products directly to small businesses
•A world-class sales leader with a proven track record of success
•Strong technical or data-driven sales expertise and the proven ability to evangelize it, along with the ability to conceptualize and teach sales principles and practices
•A skilled communicator who can articulate the Elance vision in a clear and compelling way that immediately generates excitement, enthusiasm and a commitment to the vision in subordinates, peers and external partners
•A proven motivator of people with undeniable experience in rallying people, not afraid to roll up his or her sleeves
•A track record of attracting and retaining top talent
