YBCA Marketing Manager, Marketing & Communications

About the Position:
As Marketing Manager, you will play a key role in communicating YBCA's mission, vision and brand to a diverse audience. You will be a leader in shaping YBCA's marketing, promotion and sales plans designed to develop audiences and achieve revenue goals for YBCA, including managing and implementing advertising and sales promotions; overseeing collateral to promote YBCA's programs and events; serving as the departmental copy editor and collecting and analyzing data to determine the efficacy of current marketing practices and track patron buying habits. The Marketing Manager serves as the project manager for all day to day operations in the Department and is responsible for overseeing and managing departmental systems and processes and integrating all marketing activities into a cohesive and complimentary campaign. The Marketing Manager supervises the Graphic Designer and the Mar/Com Coordinator. Proven success with marketing and sales campaigns, project management, and data analysis is required. Previous experience with Tessitura preferred.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
• Manage all marketing plans, programs, and activities designed to develop audiences and achieve revenue goals for YBCA
• Partner with Senior Director and Marketing team in order to ensure department-wide strategic goals are being met and that the marketing department is resourced and budgeted appropriately
• Collaborate with marketing management team to coordinate execution of strategy and ensure effective, on time delivery of integrated marketing strategies
• Organize deadlines, workflow and overall integration of day-to-day activities of the marketing department that support YBCA visual art, film, performance and public programs and special events.
• Manage efficiency efforts; oversee internal systems, processes and procedures (ex. Marketing Request Forms, attendance and sales reporting, trafficking of publications, production deadlines, image labeling and storage, etc.), continuously evaluate effectiveness of marketing systems and procedures and raise issues and solutions to Senior Director
• Schedule and place paid advertising; develop ad copy; and supervise ad production and delivery
• Develop and manage tracking and analysis mechanisms to evaluate effectiveness of marketing campaigns, including, expenditures, sales and promotions, and to track patron buying habits
• Manage YBCA audience and vendor databases using Tessitura software; coordinate list pulls for emails and direct mail campaigns; oversee direct mail list exchanges and list rentals
• Supervise, manage and evaluate the Graphic Designer and Mar/Com Assistant.
• Serve as liaison with YBCA box office to manage promotions
• Create agenda for and conduct weekly departmental meetings.
• Other duties as assigned
About You:
• Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, liberal arts or similar field of study; At least 5 consecutive years experience in non-profit arts marketing or related field
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful print, broadcast, online and social media marketing campaigns
• Proven success with overseeing day to day marketing activities, project management, and data analysis is required.
• Experience with print, broadcast, online and social media data analysis
• Minimum two years supervisory experience
• Minimum three years project management experience.
• Diplomacy, tact, integrity, flexibility, transparency, sense of humor, team orientation and the ability to negotiate and compromise to find viable solutions
• Superior verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with a constituent database, Tessitura experience strongly preferred
• Excellent organizational skills with particular attention to detail and capacity to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Demonstrated experience working effectively in partnership with people of diverse cultural backgrounds
• Proven interpersonal skills a must
• Knowledge of or interest in contemporary art ideal, but not required. Must be able to attend exhibit-related training.
• Willingness to work alongside contemporary works of art and performances which present challenging and provocative subject matter.
