The Media Manager reports to the SVP of Production and Operations and is a key architect in determining the workflow and media management throughout the Network.
Responsibilities
With SVP of Production and Operations, establish a robust digital asset management system with an associated workflow to support a full-service, in-house media production services team. Develop conventions and systems for the logging, naming and transcribing of all media assets.
The Media Manager employs industry best practices for the acquisition, cataloguing and maintenance of the Network's active media assets and the master media archive.
Along with the Coordinating Producer – Studio, schedule and manage project workflows; create timelines and user groupings for project folders that support both live production and post-production.
In concert with Network's engineering department, monitor and protect the "health" of the Network's Media Asset Management system (MAM). Maintain active service contracts for MAM. Perform regularly scheduled maintenance and upkeep for system.
Create process for distribution and posting of post-production assets to Network's video platforms, i.e. web, VOD, mobile.
Oversee the process for receiving and evaluating internal and external requests for media assets and files. Provide rapid turnaround and delivery of approved requests.
Optimize archival assets into contemporary formats to integrate into the system architecture created.
Understand and adhere to all the Network's guidelines for secured storage and distribution of media assets. With SVP of Technology, develop the long term asset storage and disaster recovery (D/R) strategy and procedures.
Provide regular training to existing and new staff in the operation of the MAM system.
Stay current in industry trends specially related to media asset management. Research pricing and equipment availability for budget requests and capital projections.
Requirements
Strong people skills
Solid grasp of standard media asset management (MAM) systems.
Minimum of three years prior experience in managing a media asset workflow in a TV/Digital Media Network.
Ability to correctly estimate time and effort needed to complete a project.
Strong problem identification and reporting skills
Established experience in encoding and transcoding of video files.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with Final Cut Pro, AVID, Adobe Premier or other non-linear edit systems.
Special consideration for prior experience with Dalet, Omneon, DataDirect and/or SGL/Frontporch.
Passionate about Collegiate Sports and, in particular, Pac-12 Sports
Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, and written communication skills
Effective interpersonal skills; good judgment and ability to interact with different levels of management and teams
Demonstrated ability to prioritize under time constraints and work successfully in a fast-paced environment
Experience working in a culturally diverse organization and supporting the values held by our unique employees, clients, sponsors, university faculty, and fans
Ability to work on weekends required at certain times of the year.
