POSITION: Java/J2EE Developer

LOCATION: Herndon, VA

MAX RATE: $50/hr.

LENGTH of CONTRACT: 6 months

TECHNOLOGIES:

Java, J2EE, Web Services, Spring, Struts, Hibernate, JDBC, Servlets and JSP, XML, XSLT, XPATH, XSD, DTD, WSDL, Middle Tier Development, SOA and Messaging Patterns, SQL Server, .Net and SSIS, CompassPoint, QRM, or other Valuation & Risk Management Vendor/3rd Party Software Integration is Highly Desirable.
Software Development Life Cycle. Understanding of ETL and Relational Databases.

• Financial Services background – especially in Capital Markets and/or the mortgage industry – is a MAJOR plus

ROLE/JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Candidate will design, develop, and deliver full production applications based on requirements analysis and prototype applications.
• Initial projects will be most concerned with data, interfaces, and integration. Hence, the candidate must understand the concepts of integration, messaging, relational databases, ETL and workflows. Analytical skills and related experience is valuable.
• Candidate should be flexible enough to work on more than one project at the same time. Should have proven ability to deliver projects on time.
• Should have significant experience across a variety of IT projects or problem-areas demonstrating depth of knowledge and experience solving problems in IT.
o Includes special emphasis on experience with integration projects involving varying technologies, platforms, and software development processes.
• Should have a strong understanding of the Java/J2EE platform and the ability to apply these tools to design, implement and support solutions based on requirements. Additional experience with database development and design a plus.
• Strong communication skills required, including the ability to:
o demonstrate technical leadership and mentorship to colleagues
o work with non-technical colleagues to understand and hone business requirements.
o effectively present design and implementation approaches to colleagues and management
• Relevant IT skills
o Strong hands-on development experience using java, j2ee, Web Services, spring, Struts, Hibernate, JDBC, Servlets and JSP is required.
o Expertise in XML, XSLT, XPATH, XSD, DTD, WSDL & related technologies
o Expertise in Middle Tier development. Front End experience is a plus.
o Experience in design and development of Integration solutions and Services based on SOA and Messaging patterns
o SQL Server development and familiarity is a plus
o Knowledge of .Net and SSIS is a plus
o Prior experience with CompassPoint, QRM, or other valuation & risk management vendor/3rd party software integration is highly desirable.
• Minimum of five years experience in driving software development projects using a formal development methodology (Software Development Life Cycle) processes, change management discipline, and project management processes.
