Look no further than joining Better Business Bureau serving the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern Coastal California as a Business Development Manager.
This position is primarily responsible for managing and coordinating activities in the business development department, with a focus on growth in accreditations and increasing revenue for BBB serving the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern Coastal California.
Responsibilities & Expectations

• Builds positive relationships with key decision makers throughout our territory.
• Increases BBB Accredited Business market penetration, and local BBB revenue by following BBB's Code of Business Practices and other guidelines set forth by BBB's Performance and Accountability Standards (P&A).
• Identifies new BBB Accredited Business prospects through lead-generation, research and outreach.
• Identifies qualified leads, and builds a steady pipeline of business.
• Implements on-going in-the-box and out-of-the-box motivational plans for Business Development team members.
• Recruits, actively trains/coaches, and maintains a full staff of Business Development team members.
• Meets and exceeds sales and new growth goals.
• Recommends profit performance goals and ensures they are achieved..
• Reviews costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department progress toward stated goals andnobjectives.
• Provides creative direction to ongoing sales and accreditation materials, accreditation plaques, new ccredited business packets, and other marketing collateral.
• Provides ongoing status updates for department projects, current and future.
• Achieves satisfactory profit/loss ratio and market share in relation to preset standards and industry and economic trends.
• Provides oversight of department day-to-day operations with the ultimate goal of effectively serving customers' needs, and meeting CEO directives.
• Develops, implements, and monitors department's policies and procedures.
• Develops, monitors, and implements processes required to effectively manage current activities and operations as well as plans for growth; ensures that effective processes are in place so that growth/change s achieved with minimal disruption to day-to-day activities and profit.
• Participates in financial planning and controls for areas of responsibility; recommends profit performance goals and ensures they are achieved.
• Understanding of sales cycles, scripting, and CRM tools.
• Oversees internal workflows and organizational development within area(s) of responsibility; ensures communication and information flow throughout the organization is efficiently managed to provide all employees and other departments with current, pertinent, job-related information.
• Builds strong working partnerships and open communication within BBB organization.
• Directs and oversees all staff-related activities within department.
• Ensures that all operations comply with federal, state, local, and/or company policies and regulations and consistently meets P&A Standards, as well as ensure individual employee expectations are met.
• Prepares all required reports and correspondence.
• Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Vice President of Marketing & Business Development.
Managerial Duties
• Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
• Directly manages 10-20 non-supervisory employees.
• Ensures department meets its P&A Standards, company and department goals.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
• Ensures consistency in HR matters, and following company policies regarding Coaching, Counseling Records, and Performance Improvement Plans.

Requirements:
• Previous experience working in a telephone based sales role
• Knowledge of sales (inbound, outbound, ABM)
• Excellent telephone skills combined with a track record of building customer relationships over the phone
by using a professional, friendly approach
• Willingness to continually learn and expand business development skills
• Commission driven and goal oriented
• Willing to work in a quota driven environment and be rewarded for your efforts
• Skilled at answering customer questions, while presenting value propositions in a fluent manner
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner
• Previous experience working in an ad sales role with an overall understanding of the SaaS selling cycle or similar B2B sales experience; advertising sales is a plus
• Experience working in Microsoft Excel (or other spreadsheet package), and a good understanding of
navigating through a wide range of programs on the Internet. Solid experience in Microsoft Outlook (or equivalent) for general company communication
• Some experience in using CRM/sales/lead generation databases (Salesforce, NetSuite, etc.)
• Proven capability to work with high volumes of data within tight deadlines, while still maintaining accuracy
• Strong attention to detail, with a methodical, organized approach to getting work completed
• Experience in gathering research, drawing conclusions and presenting findings and suggestions
• Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred, or a minimum of 2-3 years relevant work experience
• Must be able to communicate (verbal and written) in English
