OVERVIEW
Supervisors focus is on managing day to day media relations, client programs/initiatives and launches.
In this role you are also the primary leader of teams, responsible for managing workflow, client
projects and focusing weekly activity on client results and goals. Supervisors are responsible for media
and program strategy, but also contributors to overarching account strategy, client positioning and
creative ideas.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Account Management
Drives the day to day and serves as primary point of contact for clients.
Moves all aspects of an account forward, ensuring all account programs and activities map
are on track and map back to client goals.
Flags concerns on client side and determines when the VP team needs to be involved.
Supervises the work of account team members by setting priorities, delegating
responsibilities and meeting deadlines.
Manages multiple projects from conception to completion, anticipating challenges and
ensuring deadline and budget adherence.
Final set of eyes for client deliverables and documents; team pitches; etc.
Strategy
Drafts the first revision of large campaign and yearly plans for clients; pulling in VPs/digital
resources/peers to build out; finalize.
Consults with clients on media strategy and approach for announcements and story pitching;
delivers media strategy documents to client autonomously.
Creates execution plans that ladder back to client goals.
Maintains a keen understanding of industry trends affecting clients and makes appropriate
recommendations regarding communication strategy surrounding them.
Media Relations
Runs client launches and news announcements with support from team and media experts.
Identifies trend stories, executive features and client/product spotlights -- land stories
individually + direct teams in their pitching/to achieve results.
Pitches stories to both national and local media. Achieve client results across segments.
Follows the news and make smart recommendations for how clients and insert their
executives, products and POVs into trending stories and themes.

Leverages existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within business and
industry media.
Cultivates relationships with key business journalists in national and trade publications.
Thinks creatively about how digital marketing can support media relations -- social, content,
events, paid -- and put ideas into action.
Writing
Drafts strong media documents (pitches, releases, Q&A, blog posts) that are client ready and
need minimal edits from VPs.
Clearly communicates strategy, approach and updates to clients on all programs.
Cultivates the writing skills of junior members of the team by providing consistent counsel
and training opportunities to help team develop exemplary writing skills.
Agency Participation
Participates in new business including crafting proposals/decks and attending presentations.
Actively contributes to the operational efficiency of the firm by developing reusable
documents, templates, improving processes, etc.
Updates Agency on key events, reporters, news within industries that may impact
other clients.
Oversees the growth and professional development of direct reports, including drafting and
delivering performance reviews, conducting regular meetings to assess progress, and
elevating performance issues to management team as needed.
Leads at least one internal agency wide training session per year; attend a minimum of two
networking events per year
Part of Leadership Team; in agency planning discussions including staffing, hiring and overall
growth plans.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
Five to seven years of experience in public relations agency or a similar position.
Solid understanding of overall technology industry.
Deep relationships with specific category of higher level media (business, technology or
consumer) that result in significant coverage for client
Excellent organizational and planning skills.
Exceptional writing capabilities.
Results-driven and self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management
CRITERIA TO BE PROMOTED TO ACCOUNT DIRECTOR
Consistently runs successful client campaigns, launches and programs, achieving client goals
and metrics for success.
Demonstrated understanding of communications strategy and ability to effectively
communicate recommendations to clients via conversations, written plans and formal
presentations.
Built solid client relationships, viewed as go-to resource for clients on day-to-day issues.
Able to effectively lead and manage teams, ensuring efficient work and focus on results.
Strong media relations chops; has key media friendlies, lands stories on an individual level
