Role Purpose:
One of MidPen Housing's top four corporate goals is to be the "employer of choice" in our industry. The Employee Communications Manager will develop and manage an integrated communications plan to help accomplish these goals. This individual will be responsible for executing against that plan which will entail managing and producing a diverse set of employee communications events and deliverables. The right candidate will be able to think both strategically and creatively.
Your day to day:
Develop an integrated Employee Communications Plan and Calendar to support all key initiatives related to employees and prospective employees. Implement and manage against this plan.
Manage and produce employee events – Quarterly field meetings; the Annual All Staff meeting; possibly other events as needed
Manage the MidPen Intranet (built on SharePoint): produce content for the Corporate News section (using various mediums including video); ensure that content managers from MidPen's business units adhere to corporate guidelines and standards; promote its adoption across the company; and ensure that it is up-to-date, relevant and an effective tool for cross-company collaboration
Assess and manage the use of Social Media to recruit talent, enhance employee communications and help employees connect to our mission and to one another.
Develop a communication s strategy to promote MidPen's Core Values (Integrity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence) and recognize individuals who exemplify those values
Establish Employee Communications protocols based on industry best practices – protocols for email, announcements, etc.
Write various communications (emails, blogs, etc.) for MidPen executives to deliver as needed – including communications that support effective change management.
What you bring:
Bachelor's Degree Preferred
4 – 6 years' experience in a communications role that included scoping, managing and producing a variety of communications deliverables. Ideally, some experience specifically in an employee communications capacity
Proven ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organization and to work with / lead cross-functional teams
Excellent writing and editing skills as demonstrated by examples of previous work
Ability to manage programs and events from concept to completion, working with internal teams and, on occasion, outside vendors
Social media and digital media expertise
Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt to changing requirements and prioritize accordingly
Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in handling confidential materials and matters
Proficiency in Microsoft Office including SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Knowledge of In-Design, Adobe Creative Suite or other design software not required but preferred.
