Position Summary:
My client is developing a leading edge Rhythmia Mapping system that creates high-resolution 3D models of the human heart, used by physicians to treat cardiac arrhythmia.
The Signal Processing Algorithm Development Engineer will have a leading role in the design and development of novel signal processing algorithms and tools for cutting edge medical applications in the field of Cardiac arrhythmia diagnosis and treatment.
Responsibilities:
· Design and develop novel signal processing algorithms applied to biological signals, from concept and simulation to fully formed product.
· Drive system level enhancements for advanced 3D real-time tracking technology of many sensors in a noisy, stressed environment - This person will take ownership of the tracking software, which is magnetic, and locates where the catheter is in the body – There are multiple signals coming into the system. Algorithms are being developed to take the various signals and process them to provide output. The catheter is measuring all the signals going into the body.
· Work with concept teams to explore, model, and develop new algorithms and ideas for breakthrough mapping and automated sensing features.
· Collaborate across disciplines effectively (HW, Systems and Mech.) to focus and maximize end-to-end solution value.
· Expand and strengthen a highly specialized algorithm and signal processing toolbox in both the simulation and software domains.
· Play an active role in the cross-functional/departmental effort of defining clinical feature value proposition.
· Provide technical leadership in algorithm development and best practices.
· Participate in design and execution of preclinical system experiments in the lab, with physicians, and 3rd parties
Required Skills and Competencies:
· Master’s/PHD Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent – Non-Research roles.
· At least 5 years of product development experience in a commercial product environment required.
· Must have a really good understanding of signal processing and MatLab or equivalent - The ideal candidate will be able to translate the algorithms in Matlab to C++ - This experience is secondary to the signal processing.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Linear systems analysis (time/frequency, estimation & feedback models, adaptive filters).
· Experience with algorithm design for real-time systems – Will develop new algorithms as needed for the product.
· Digital filter design.
· Solid, recent experience with C/C++.
· Expert in MATLAB or equivalent.
· Familiarity with lab equipment (signal generator, oscilloscope, LabView, etc.) - a plus.
· Optimization fundamentals – a plus.
Quality System Requirements:
· In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
· Assures that appropriate resources (personnel, tools, etc.) are maintained in order to assure Quality System compliance and adherence to the firm’s Quality Policy.
· Establishes and promotes a work environment that supports the Quality Policy and Quality System.
