Reporting to the HR Project Management and Process Improvement Manager, the Project Manager provides broad project management expertise and support to assigned initiatives within the Human Resource Department. Independently apply broad project management knowledge, skills and principles to plan, monitor and advance key HR initiatives and projects of moderate to large size and complexity, including support to project sponsors, project leads, process owners and teams driving business process redesign and implementation. Independently develop and execute project plans to ensure that assigned projects meet objectives within established timelines. Work collaboratively with HR Department and Lab colleagues to gather data, develop metrics, monitor project milestones, communicate status, and implement deliverables.

Note: this is a 1 year Term Appointment with the possibility of extension for longer or conversion to Career depending on performance, available funding, continued business needs, etc.

Direct Responsibilities:
• Lead the successful planning and implementation of assigned projects. Partner with project sponsor, project lead and/or process owner to develop project charters including scope, objectives, and milestones, create project plans, identify required resources and assemble and manage project teams.
• Provide ongoing broad project management expertise and support to project sponsors, project leads, process owners, and teams through: data collection and analysis, problem solving, feedback findings, diagnostic interviews, and strategy implementation. Coordinate project related activities with external resources (e.g. vendors or consultants) as required.
• Maintain ownership of project charters, project plans, requirements, metrics, issue and risk management, engagement and communication plans, change management plans, training plan and customer / stakeholder relationships.
• Develop and maintain project documentation, including version control and documentation of assumptions, decisions, and risks/barriers. Establish methods for gathering relevant feedback from applicable stakeholders to incorporate into documentation.
• Develop, design, and deliver progress updates to relevant business leaders and stakeholders. Exercise independent judgment to adapt communication of project status and objectives to a variety of audiences and forums as appropriate.
• Proactively identify and analyze opportunities for process improvement. Actively engage with stakeholders to gather the feedback needed to formulate and propose sound recommendations for current or future project needs. Utilize independent judgment and discretion to prioritize, plan, schedule, and implement improvements as appropriate within scope of job.

Qualifications needed to Succeed:
• B.A./B.S. or advanced degree (e.g. Master´s) with a minimum of 8 years of progressive work experience including managing complex projects of moderate to large scope; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven broad knowledge in all aspects of project management combined with the demonstrated ability to manage moderate to large projects in a complex business environment. Broad knowledge of professional concepts involved in effective project management and project planning.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Must be able to effectively communicate and present information containing programmatic and technical data to various levels and diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated strong political acumen and interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with people in the widest variety of job classifications. Must have demonstrated ability and experience in dealing with sensitive issues and difficult people/situations.
• Must possess the ability to create business process maps, MS project plans, PowerPoint and Visio presentations and documentation.
