Position Summary
Perform traditional database administration duties including software installation, database creation, database maintenance, environment refreshes, tuning, backup, and disaster recovery planning for multiple high-availability databases.
Functions
Support production database and resolve end-user errors or performance problems: Support, prioritize and troubleshoot database, OS, application and hardware issues. Includes on-call responsibilities
Monitoring database performance
Resolution of data management issues and problems resolution
Administering database security
Work with development teams in a support capacity for specific application databases.
Diagnose problems and implement corrective actions
Documentation of database standards and procedures for RDBMS management
Preparing performance and SLA reports
Develop SQL and operating specific (Unix, Windows) scripts to automate DBA functions
Installation and configuration of SQL Server
Automate SQL Server DBA tasks
Requirements
BS Degree or related experience
At least five years experience supporting SQL
Working knowledge of data base architecture SQL
Understand entity relationship diagrams, data flow diagrams, database normalization schemas, logical to physical database mapping
Exposure and practice at using the DBMS to optimize performance of large databases is preferred.
Experience (5 or more years) with database-oriented client/server development tools and techniques. 5+ years of commercial IT experience with specialization performing SQL Server System Administration and Database Design
Extensive experience performing MS-SQL Server Database Administration activities such as installation, configuration, database design, tuning, database upgrades, query optimization, backup, recovery, troubleshooting, T-SQL, stored procedures, views, DDL, data-modeling, import and export, generating scripts. Additionally, offers experience developing client server applications utilizing Visual Basic, Active Server Pages and SQL Server on a Windows platform
