Position Summary:

 

This role engages directly with portfolio managers, research analysts and other investment professionals in support of their investment processes.  This individual will think strategically and provide a robust technology platform for these investors in the office, offsite and while mobile.  Ensuring quick and efficient resolution of technology related problems is critical as is outstanding project management skills, a high degree of technical knowledge and expertise, and people management skills.

 

This individual needs to lead with minimal direct guidance and work effectively in a strong team environment with a deep sense of ownership and urgency. High stress situations involving problem diagnosis, business communication, and issue resolution must be handled with determination, effectiveness and grace.

 

In addition to working with a seasoned team that has built trusting relationships with the investment teams, this role interacts closely with application support teams, engineering teams, and infrastructure teams across the IT department.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·         Manage all aspects of the end user computing platform and technology service delivery for investors.

·         Advance our customized, dedicated support model designed to provide the highest level of service delivery to the investor community.

·         Employ problem-solving skills on inquiries and issues that arise as part of the day-to-day investment process.

·         Drive for issue prevention by employing root-cause analysis, issue tracking, trend analysis and status reporting.

·         Coordinate IT staff and contractors to provide maintenance and repairs, moves and equipment exchanges.

Required Skills and Competencies:

·         At least seven years in a senior role supporting investment professionals, with a minimum of three years of hands-on desktop.

·         Must be self-starter possessing drive and ability to work with minimal supervision

·         Strong leadership qualities.  Ability to provide direction, be a positive influence, and act as a role model to the rest of the team.

·         Ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively

·         Ability to perform research and share knowledge with team members.

·         Proven project and delivery management skills

·         Attention to detail, strong written and oral communication skills

·         Ability to work well in a team environment

·         Experience with PC desktops and laptops

·         Fluent in in Microsoft products (OS, Office, Outlook).

·         Solid understanding of Remote Computing technologies

·         Solid understanding of mobile computing devices such as iPhones, iPads, Blackberries and Windows Mobile devices

·         Solid understanding of and experience supporting virtual desktop technologies including VDI, RDP and Citrix.

·         It is required that this individual have several years of experience in the financial industry, and possesses a strong understanding of financial markets.

 

Pluses:

 

·         Experience with Audio Visual systems, including Desktop Video systems.

·         Experience with Market Data Service applications.

·         Experience in a helpdesk environment

·         ITIL Knowledge/ Certifications.

·         Experience with ticketing system (ServiceNow). 

 

Keys to this Role:

 

1)    We are seeking a strong, very professional Desktop Support person.  This individual will support the Investor team so they must have outstanding customer service skills.

2)    Must be hands on with the following technologies:  Microsoft Office Suite, Windows 7 and Windows 10 Operating Systems, Mobile platforms (iPhones, iPads, etc.), Avaya phone system, Citrix, VPN, Active Directory, SCCM, etc.

3)    Market Data Systems (Bloomberg, FactSet, Thomson Reuters, Markit, etc.) is a strong plus. 

4)    Must have Excellent Communication Skills to support an Investment team where systems are mission critical. 

5)    Financial Services is required.  The key is that the individual must be comfortable in a fast paced environment.  This person must understand the pace, the urgency, priorities and client sensitivity.
