Position Summary:
The Investor and Portfolio Services team is responsible for enabling the firm’s Investment teams. The team plays a critical role in the firm’s success by providing innovative solutions for highly complex and critical investment decision-making process.
Responsibilities:
· Work directly with Quant Business team to help refine architecture, build out supporting infrastructure, and contribute to rollout of new models.
· Lead development efforts working with others Lead Engineers and Systems Analysts in full product lifecycle DevOps model.
· Interact with Systems Analysts and Investment professionals at all levels of the organization to proactively identify opportunities for new/improved systems to improve the investment process.
· Provide implementation of business process improvements involving (but not limited to) interactive data, investment process efficiency, and simplifying investor work flow.
Required Skills and Competencies:
· Up to 5 years of experience as a software developer and application lead supporting complex application development life cycles and rapid paced delivery.
· Strong software design skills including OO and functional designs
· Strong understanding of two or more of the following, flexibility to use and adapt to other platforms:
· Java technologies including a understanding of concurrent programming concepts and common libraries
· Matlab and other numerical platforms such as R
· Python including libraries such as numpy and pandas
· JavaScript UI technologies and mobile including frameworks such as Angular, React, or Bootstrap
· JavaScript server components including Node.JS
· Solid high-level understanding of current technology landscape including the current players in UI, mobile, the cloud, databases, big data, caching, and security.
· Strong analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal are required.
· Working knowledge of SQL and SQL performance tuning. Direct experience with Oracle is a plus.
· Experience with Amazon Web Services including CloudFormation, Lambda, and EC2 is a strong plus
· Experience with BI tools including Spotfire or Tableau is a strong plus
· Must be comfortable with test driven development, continuous integration, and agile development methodologies.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, engineering, sciences, or related field.
· Experience in Financial Industry or mathematical background is a strong plus
Keys to this Position:
1) Ideally 2 to 5 years of OO Design, Java, Python, Matlab. Will look at up to 10 years of experience.
2) We are seeking a strong hands-on software engineer with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. This is an individual contributor role.
3) Technical Stack: Must be strong with any two of the following: Matlab, Java, JavaScript or Python. The ideal candidate will be strong with Matlab and Java.
4) Soft skills: Strong communication skills are required as this individual will interface with the Quant Business team.
