Product Planner - Nook (Consumer Device/Application Developer) - for Nook E-Readers / Tablets
The team
The role sits within the Product Planning. As a Market Analyst, you will be joining the team that synthesizes and interprets trends in market, competitor and consumer behavior to create powerful platforms for product conception and creation. You will also be working with a wide range of internal stakeholders and helping them draw together information and analysis that will go as high as board-level presentations. They and your immediate team will rely upon your accurate and timely thinking to help drive our business forward.

You will have a solid industry knowledge of the smartphone and mobile computing market; you'll be admired by your peer group for your strong quantitative analytical skills, your logical process-orientated mindset, and an unerring focus on detail and accuracy. The background
As the ideal candidate, you will possess:
• Experience in the tablet and / or mobile computing industry required;
• 4-7 years experience in high-tech, competitive intelligence, product management, strategic marketing, or strategy/management consulting required;
• Strong familiarity with business strategy and business applications;
• Ability to synthesize business implications with a grasp of market dynamics;
• Strong drive for goal attainment;
• Strong attention to detail and focus essential; your work will be used at the highest levels of decision-making and stakeholders will expect to use your information without qualification or second-guessing its accuracy;
• Superior writing and editing skills;
• Effective oral and written communication skills;
• Professional presentation skills;
• Analytical and quantitative skills;
• Must have superb knowledge of Power Point and Excel; mastery of pivot tables and ability to manage and analyze multiple large data sets concurrently is essential;
• Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines and following procedures;
• Ability to juggle tight deadlines and shifting priorities
• Ability, initiative, and commitment to be a part of a culture of excellence
• A team player with strong communications, interpersonal, negotiation, and persuasive skills.

The responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
• Producing regular, targeted digest of market news, summarizing insights and implications;
• Working with product managers to create market and competitive assessments to support product development and sell-in argumentation;
• Identify additional primary and secondary research needed to understand market and competitors;
• Using primary, secondary research, and internal databases to understand and forecast market developments;
• Identifying linkages across multiple sources of data and providing analysis based on all available sources
• Utilizing multiple sources of data and third party tools to design data analysis, reports and presentations for internal research projects and daily management use
• Creating and facilitating high quality deliverables to communicate information and insights in the most effective way
• Maintain and make available all relevant competitive intelligence material on internal Intranet and Portal
• Manage, organize and distribute secondary research reports and data; work with industry analysts
• Track competitive device announcements and launches and create database and summaries
You will also be expected to take part in:
•Create and maintain competitive datasheets to support capture teams in competitive situations with targeted and actionable competitive intelligence
•Creating a process and framework to share market and competitive information internally
•Provide analytical support to the team on an ad-hoc basis for a wide range of potential business decisions. Projects might include market share analysis, market and opportunity sizing exercises, assessment of technology trends, and interpretation of primary & secondary market research data
•Procurement of secondary research (evaluate proposals, create SOWs and POs, and work with account managers); manage user lists
