Senior Commodity Manager (5162)
Position Description
Primary responsibility is to be the resident expert for the organization and its customers in the assigned commodity categories. The Commodity Manager must be capable of embracing and using the Strategic Sourcing process and effect savings within the assigned commodity groups, which may include direct (production) or indirect procurement.
Main Duties:
• Assist in developing sourcing strategies
• Lower total overall cost of ownership
• Lead negotiations, supplier selection and contracts
• Be a leader in cross-functional teams consisting of engineering, sales, manufacturing, and quality in developing supply strategies
• Participate in team collaboration where commodity management expertise is required
• Develop requests for proposals and maintain quote files for assigned commodities
• Be capable of providing risk assessment when developing new sources of supply
• Establish annual goals and measure results
Position Requirements
College degree in a relevant field
Yrs. of related experience: 5-7 years of professional experience in the procurement area with specific product knowledge of assigned commodities
Competencies:
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills
• Analytical ability and attention to details
• Working experience with automated purchasing systems
• Life Science experience preferred
• ISO13485:2003 training preferred
• Other preferences include experience in planning, data analysis and reporting
