Position Summary:
My client is transforming the way consumer audio products interact with the Cloud, creating new experiences for connecting people to what they love the most. They are looking for a strong software development lead to help them create the next generation of products and services for their highly respected brand. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working collaboratively with developers to build and manage complex software (or combined software/hardware).
Building a Microservices platform for their connected audio products, the IoT functions important to their team are: unique and reliable device identification; secured software update process; secure asynchronous communication to remote devices; device shadow state maintained in the cloud; secure manufacturing birth certificates; developer debug facilities; and remote device diagnostics and customer support.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
· Lead the IoT team to create clear and concise requirements
· Work closely with developers and QA to deliver expected IoT functionality
· Build relationships with engineering teams depending on IoT throughout the company
· Ensure low-latency and high-availability performance for IoT operations at consumer scale
· Work with leading IoT vendors to understand and drive their roadmaps, and integrate their technologies
· Be accountable for software design, documentation, and software quality
· Coach and mentor individual contributors
· Build valued working relationships with technical subject matter experts on the team as well as with stakeholders and upper management.
Required Skills and Competencies:
The ideal candidate will have the following skills, abilities and knowledge:
· 6+ years of software development experience
· 2+ years in IoT-related technologies - Understanding of various IoT technologies and approaches, such as MQTT, WebSockets, PKI, x.509 certificates, & device telemetry.
· Expertise with cloud operating environments and Microservices architecture
· Must be a good coder that can win the respect of a highly skilled team
· Networking protocols are second nature
· Experience in leading technology explorations and vendor evaluations
· Superb written and presentation skills, will be comfortable engaging with executives
· Can work closely with cross-functional partners including product management, manufacturing, support, and others
· A proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex software development efforts
· Bachelors of Science in software engineering, computer science, or other appropriate field; advanced degrees preferred
