Position Summary:
Client is currently seeking a Lead Front End, Software Engineer to be based at their headquarters in Newton, MA. The Lead Front End, Software Engineer needs to be motivated to combine the art of design with the art of programming. Responsibilities will include translation of the UI/UX design wireframes to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application. You will work with the UI/UX designer and bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.
The Lead Front End Software Engineer is a member of the Engineering Team. The position reports to the Interface Engineering Manager. The Senior Frontend Software Engineer is a key participant in the design and development of the firm’s web applications. This position requires a high level of experience building web applications using: MVC, HTML5 APIs, and concepts such as closures, promises, and functional programming.
This is a hands-on coding role with lead activities.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
· Proven ability to produce enterprise class, highly scalable and high performance software for use in clinical settings.
· Proven track record growing existing products & solutions to the next level in terms of scalability and innovation.
· Able to seamlessly operate at various levels, championing architectural improvements, and driving cross-functional team.
· Depth and breadth of experience in various tools, technologies and programming languages – including but not limited to web applications, networking, OO, security, mobile, SaaS, Cloud.
· Expertise in technologies like Java/J2EE, .NET/C#, MySQL/SQL Server, iOS/Android. Contribution to open-source technologies and GitHub.
· Experience in influencing and mentoring junior developers through collaborative POCs, architectural presentations and powerful code reviews.
· Ability to assimilate customer needs and translate them into tangible architectural enhancements.
· Experience creating and using RESTful Web Services leveraging AWS, Azure, Hadoop, NoSQL, and NewSQL.
· Smart, multi-tasking, innovative, hands-on agile practitioner.
Required Skills and Competencies:
· A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field, attending and presenting at industry conferences.
· 5+ years developing web based applications.
· 5+ years’ experience in hand-coded, standards-compliant, responsive applications with HTML, CSS and JS.
· Advanced knowledge of front end architecture with MVC JavaScript frameworks (React required, Ember, Angular, Backbone, etc.) or similar libraries.
· Excellent knowledge of functional and object-oriented JavaScript.
· Experience with Node workflow/build systems (webpack, gulp, grunt, etc.)
· Experience with browser APIs and optimizing front end performance such as JSON over Rest.
· Experience with GIT and associated workflows.
· Experience in a fast-paced work environment.
· Experience writing JS that is maintainable, object-oriented and sensitive to different browser technologies.
