Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Solution Architecture the duties and responsibilities of the Senior Software Developer include:
· Working with an agile team to develop, test, and maintain data processing applications using Java, Scala, Spark and other Big Data technologies.
· Assisting in the collection and documentation of user's requirements, development of user stories, and estimates.
· Preparing reports, manuals and other documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of software. Design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards.
· Participating in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code. Package and support deployment of releases.
· Analyzing and resolving technical and application problems.
· Adhering to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Minimum Requirements
· M.S. in Computer Science, or 4+ years’ experience in a developer position
· Strong desire to learn
Core Competency Requirements
· Solid understanding of object oriented programming concepts
· Solid understanding of relational database design and querying concepts
· Solid understanding of NoSQL database design and querying concepts
· Experience with Java/Groovy-required, Scala or any other JVM language
· Experience with version control systems such as Git and Subversion
· Experience with agile development methodologies
· Experience with Unit Testing and testing tools for code coverage and code analysis.
· Experience with deployment tools such as Ant, Maven, Gradle
· Leadership skills
Preferred Competency Requirements
· Exposure to Python, R
· Exposure to Big Data technologies like Spark and Hadoop
