The Role: Technical Specialist

Periscope is searching for a Technical Specialist who is a jack-of-all-trades, is well rounded, technically savvy and a strong communicator. The Technical Specialist will fill a key position that will provide systems support for our hosted environments and support tickets that require technical expertise. Our ideal candidate will enjoy working with computer systems, networking concepts, identifying/resolving issues and employing security best practices. They will also be available on an on-call basis and have the capability to eventually manage a department of two/three specialists.
Your Required Skills & Experience:
You preferably have a bachelor's degree in computer science, business information systems or a related field and three to five years of relevant experience
You are a strong problem solver with the ability to seek out and take preventative corrective actions
You are self-motivated with the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a group
You possess a strong understanding of networking concepts
You have proficiency with both Windows and Unix systems
You have the ability to interact with RDBMS systems
Your web-based applications development knowledge is beneficial
You have an understanding of system security concepts and best practices
You are able to learn quickly and apply knowledge appropriately
