[KITlist] Sr Manager of Web User Experience (Mountain View, CA)

The Symantec.com Online Marketing team is seeking a Senior Manager of Web User Experience. This person will be responsible for the Information Architecture and Customer Experience of the Enterprise and Corporate websites on Symantec.com globally. This is a key strategic role for the team, defining the strategy for the navigation, the page layout, and the overall front-end experience of the website globally. The Sr Manager will guide this strategy, making sure it includes best practices from the industry, input from stakeholders and customers, and a data-driven approach. This person will also ensure a consistent approach with websites company-wide.

The role includes supporting the User Experience function from day-to-day operations to small projects to large initiatives. The right candidate will be flexible and able to go back and forth between multiple projects, some that need to move very quickly, others that have a longer lead time. Approximately 15-20 official projects run on Symantec.com every quarter, and most of them require an Information Architect's involvement.

The Corporate Online Marketing team is responsible for driving the global online strategy of Symantec.com, including the information architecture, visual design, editorial strategy, day-to-day operations, projects and programs, and website optimization. There is plenty of opportunity to effect positive and lasting change through the website. The right person can have a high impact in this role.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for the web architecture for all new and existing pages on Symantec.com's Enterprise and Corporate websites
- Evolve and consistently review the overall User Experience on Symantec.com, incorporating industry trends, competitive research, best practices, professional experience, and web analytics
- Set up and run all user testing and research needed for the website and for any website strategy projects, including usability tests, surveys, focus groups, prototypes
- Always use data – from customers, the industry, stakeholders, metrics, the competition – to inform design decisions, and be able to articulate that connection.
- Maintain and evolve Symantec.com's templated approach to design
- Ensure all IA documentation is up-to-date and properly posted and communicated
- Assist with creating schematics/wireframes, doing competitive and other research, and any other tasks, as needed. This is a small team with a lot of responsibility.
- Work collaboratively and closely with Symantec.com Content, Visual Design, Programs, and Development teams to roll out new functionality through standard project process
- Work collaboratively with web teams throughout the company, including Consumer, SMB, Support, and Security Response, among others, to ensure that all our websites follow certain design standards and look like they are from the same company
- Manage staff of Information Architects. Hire additional resources as needed to support larger projects.
- Think, work, and act globally. Symantec.com is live in 48 countries and the designs are global.

Qualifications
- 7-10 years working in Web User Experience focusing on Enterprise and SMB websites
- At least 5 years experience managing Web Design groups, including Information Architects
- Deep knowledge of Information Architecture and Web Design best practices and methodologies
- Extensive experience using Microsoft Visio
- Experience with Adobe Site Catalyst, or comparable analytics tool, and a data-driven approach
- Experience designing for content management and globalization management systems. Interwoven TeamSite a plus.
- Experience working with and designing for large, complex, Enterprise-level websites supported by multiple integrated systems
- Experience creating mobile-optimized web experiences a plus
- Can support the business requirements of many different stakeholders. Adept at navigating the corporate structure and weighing requirements' priority to find agreement and push forward the best possible designs.
- Skilled presenter; can speak eloquently to any level audience about Information Architecture, Customer Experience, User Experience, all from a global website perspective.
- Familiarity with Agile and waterfall development methodologies
- Self-starter, good team player, can continue to execute amidst the change that is inherent in corporate environments
- Collaborative and down-to-earth approach, willing to help out with wireframes, documentation, research, or other UX tasks, as required
- Bachelor's degree
