Position Summary:
Hands-on middleware and back-end software developer. This is a hands-on role to design, code, and test new software products and add features to existing software modules. You will engage in high-level white-board design sessions with other senior developers and managers, and take those ideas and create a working software design that you will code and test. Development may be anything from back-end Java/JDBC code, to middleware message handlers, to SQL queries and procedures. This is exclusively a hands-on position, and not a management role.
Role reports directly to the VP of engineering – He is the technical founder for a brand new product, a full stack system to detect counterfeit products in the brand-name footwear and apparel industries. He is very hands-on and still actively codes – The system involves data-matrix barcodes, big data (on Oracle and MySQL), Java middleware, and iOS/Android mobile apps, and a purpose-built "black-box" that is installed at the manufacturing plants.
Required Skills and Competencies:
· Hands on middleware and back-end development
· 5+ years of recent professional hands on software development
· 5+ years of recent professional JAVA and JDBC programming experience
· AJAX programming techniques using XML/JSON
· SQL (Oracle or MySQL) experience writing queries and stored procedures.
· Linux, GNU Tools, Bash shell, Subversion, Apache web server
· C/C++ knowledge is helpful
· Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Master preferred
