Alameda Health System (AHS), located in Oakland, CA, is seeking a dynamic and accomplished Chief, Ambulatory Care Services (Chief) – a highly visible executive and a catalyst for creating the best possible patient experience and outcomes in the non-acute setting. AHS is a leading public healthcare provider and medical training institution, recognized for its world-class patient and family centered system of care. It has served the healthcare needs of Alameda County since 1864 and has a legacy of commitment to its diverse communities. AHS has a medical staff of over 1,000 physicians and five hospitals totaling 789 beds located throughout the East Bay including Highland Hospital, a nationally recognized academic teaching hospital; John George Psychiatric Hospital; Fairmont Hospital; San Leandro Hospital and Alameda Hospital.
AHS' network of neighborhood-based community centers expands access to primary and specialized care with an interdisciplinary team of providers and specialists. Care is currently provided at four ambulatory sites across the county: Highland Wellness and Eastmont Wellness in Oakland, Newark Wellness in Newark and Hayward Wellness in Hayward. In addition, there are specialty clinics located at Highland Hospital. Ambulatory services include: Pediatrics, Immunizations, Family Planning, HIV/AIDS, Breast Health, Same-Day (Urgent), Dental, Podiatry, TB, Minor Surgery, Orthopedics, Oncology, Cardiology, GI, etc. Over the past two years, the ambulatory division added capacity, facilities, providers and staff, and will continue this investment over the next few years. During fiscal year 2016, the ambulatory division provided 308,313 annual visits.
Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Chief will serve as the physician leader responsible for all aspects of clinical and medical services provided at specialty and general clinic sites throughout the System, including ambulatory strategic planning, operations and care delivery. We seek candidates who have a demonstrated track record of success as a visionary physician leader with solid managerial experience in clinical administration, a fundamental commitment to a patient-centered model of care and a keen understanding of the medical services marketplace and evolving healthcare organizational, financing and delivery models. The Chief will have the leadership and change management skills to encourage and support a culture which promotes excellence, collaboration, empowerment, accountability and customer service. The individual must be licensed to practice in the state of California or eligible to achieve such a license.
