Position Summary:
This individual will be responsible for delivering system and process-based solutions for the Finance & Administration business area, with projects potentially spanning revenue and invoicing, compensation, financial planning and analysis, payroll, tax, treasury operations, real estate, and global accounting. We are looking to bring efficiency and risk reduction to these rapidly evolving functions. The candidate should have experience in supporting business professionals in Finance and a proven track record in successful technology solution development, project management and collaboration across multiple teams.
Responsibilities:
· Assist in the design and development of new data repositories and reporting tools that will be used to organize, analyze and report the Firm’s financial data.
· Leverage existing tools (e.g. Microsoft Office/VBA, Tableau, Workday) to optimize existing business processes, pain points, and reporting. Experience developing Access-based applications/tools that calculate, transform, and distribute data is required
· Plan, manage and execute the functional testing of new systems and enhancements to existing systems
· Develop key knowledge of specific financial workflows, working collaboratively with business process owners to identify and prioritize system and process improvements.
· Recommend modifications to established practices and procedures; create/enhance technical documentation for applications
· Partner with IT in the implementation and support of Finance-related technology projects and initiatives
· Independently manage targeted projects from initiation through execution and delivery
Required Skills and Competencies:
· 10+ years’ in application development; 5+ years’ experience in a systems role supporting Finance departments (experience working with packaged financial software applications and/or data warehouse solutions a plus)
· Expert knowledge of Access, Excel, and VBA required
· Hands-on knowledge of SQL and relational database technology
· Demonstrated experience in formal software development methodologies
· Proven ability to rapidly learn existing applications
· Strong project management/ project methodology and delivery skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Highly self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, taking initiative as necessary
· Demonstrate strong client focus and relationship management skills
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills with an attention to detail
· Bachelor’s degree required, a major in Computer Science or related field is preferred
· An MBA or CPA is considered a plus
Keys to this Position:
1) We are seeking a strong Senior Access Developer with Advanced knowledge of Access, Excel, VBA and SQL. Tableau is a big plus. Workday is a plus.
2) Experience developing Access-based applications/tools that calculate, transform, and distribute data is required.
3) This person will sit in the Finance group and develop tools and reports that are designed to streamline business processes.
4) Strong Business Systems Analysis skills are required. This individual will need to meet with business users, gather requirements, design and build solutions.
5) The technical piece is a critical aspect of the role. Developing tools for Finance and Accounting is a plus.
