The Pre-Sales Engineer (PSE) supports sales productivity and deal flow by securing the "technical close" in partnership with the sales organization. The PSE collaborates with sales, service, engineering, and technical support resources to ensure proposed deals include technical solutions that accurately address customer needs, and are appropriately supported by key customer technical decision-makers.
The PSE is responsible for supporting the sales organization's annual quota
Reporting initially to the VP, World-Wide sales, the PSE will report on a dotted line basis to the sales manager responsible for the sales team they are supporting.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Works deals with the sales team, prioritizing effort based on maximizing total impact on team productivity and profit, or as directed by the VP/sales manager.
Proactively scopes the technical solution required to address customer requirements, assesses customers' met and unmet needs, and recommends solutions that optimize value for both the customer and FleetUp.
Secures input from all necessary solution stakeholders within FleetUp. Adapts solutions, as necessary, to ensure appropriate support.
Coordinates closely with internal sales, sales support, and service resources to align solution design/customization with customers' business requirements, and is the conduit of communication on timeline and evolution of development between engineering and the customer.
Secures from customer technical staff commitments needed to ensure a deal's "technical close."
Provides coaching and professional development to sales associates in order to enhance their product knowledge, technical acumen, and technical sales skills.
Opportunistically pursues additional business development opportunities within customer firms. Collaborates with sales to ensure these opportunities are effectively covered and advanced.
Monitors customer support for technical solutions proposed throughout the sales process, and alerts the sales and account teams to potential risks of deal closure.
Preparing and presenting sales presentations (including product demonstrations) that reflect customer requirements and emphasize salable features of FleetUp equipment
Presenting seminars and workshops for the FleetUp sales team, partners and customers
Travel up to 40% of the work week
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES
Maintains deal through-put in early deal-sales process steps.
Achieves FleetUp growth targets for the channel, sales team, and account base.
Maintains high customer satisfaction ratings.
Completes required training and development objectives in order to have a deep understanding of the space, compliance mandate, FleetUp offering, and ability to mentor internal team members and customers
REQUIREMENTS AND CREDENTIALS
BSEE degree or equivalent experience in technical sales engineering support
A minimum of 4 years' experience in Application Engineering and/or Technical Sales supporting sales of complex SaaS applications to enterprises
Exceptional communication skills that project confidence, professionalism, competence and demonstrate clarity
Experience communicating complex customer issues and use cases to development teams
Understanding of iOS and Android mobile platforms and development environments
Understanding of web development environments
Preferred experience, but not required:
Transportation
Telematics
FMCSA Compliance mandates
GPS and Location based services
