Customer, Marketing: Customer Reference Manager

Seeking a passionate, highly motivated, and creative Customer Reference Manager who will be responsible for building ongoing awareness of Apttus and raising visibility of Apttus through the accomplishments of our customers. The Customer Reference Manager will be responsible for the development and execution of a company-wide customer success marketing and outreach program, and will assist Apttus customers in telling their stories through various media tools including written case studies, videos, webinars, social media, etc. Additionally, he/she will be responsible for a variety of deliverables supporting marketing and sales initiatives which are aligned to the marketing plan, and in support of customer acquisition, product launches, corporate campaigns, and installed base marketing activities.

The successful candidate will enjoy developing marketing programs from the ground up, and has a roll up his/her sleeves mentality to execute on tight deadlines and with limited resources. He/She has a passion for uncovering and telling customer stories and conveying how Apttus customers use our services and solutions for substantial business gain. You will have superior communication skills, a B-to-B marketing background, high tech industry experience, and a demonstrated ability to interact with executives. You are creative, detail-oriented with strong organizational and writing skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

The Customer Reference Manager is a very visible position in a fast growing company. Experience working with owners and executives of small to global businesses is key. Knowledge of SaaS industry trends, and related marketing messaging, puts you at the top of the candidate pool. This position reports to the Director, Customer Marketing.

This position is located at Apttus corporate offices in San Mateo, CA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop, manage, own and advocate the Apttus customer reference program while driving recognition of the Apttus brand through the customer voice.

Recruit and develop a portfolio of strategic accounts, global brands and senior-level customer references by working closely with Sales, Support and Apttus executives.

Work with Sales Executives and Account Managers to develop and build relationships with existing customers, to capture compelling success stories, to be able to speak about how these customers use Apttus services, and to identify channels where their stories would be valuable.

Create compelling and innovative customer content assets to demonstrate the caliber of companies that rely on Apttus solutions. Succinctly articulate customer stories to arm the sales team with success stories across verticals and deployment sizes. Direct internal Apttus marcom team and third party vendors to help produce assets.

Ensure customers' needs are managed and met during the reference process.

Own and manage day-to-day fulfillment requests from Sales and across Apttus

Create repeatable, streamlined processes to work with the sales and support services team to identify customer evangelists. Find new ways to recognize and cultivate more customer evangelists.

Understand the role of customers in terms of the greater marketing efforts to be a customer evangelist and to utilize the customer voice in every way possible.

As appropriate, provide customer content, copy editing, and customer messaging for press releases and corporate materials, sales tools and marketing collateral.

Create a plan to scale the customer reference program, recruitment, reference nurturing and reference fulfillment process as the company grows.

Be willing to participate in and manage other customer marketing programs and initiatives outside of core reference program duties, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

Minimum 3-5 years of direct participation or ownership for customer reference marketing and/or building a similar customer relationship/content development program

Minimum 2 years of program or project management. Have simultaneously managed multiple highpriority tasks or projects with competing deadlines, across various departments

Customer-facing experience (particularly with senior level audiences), and experience initiating and fostering relationships with customers

Experience managing marketing or sales campaigns from concept, to implementation, to results analysis

Experience working with or managing internal and external teams and resources.

Worked cross-functionally (especially with Sales, Engineering and Support) in a fast-paced environment

Required Skills:

Knowledge of what's required to build a successful reference program, how to recruit participants, and the professional and legal obligations for securing and using customer testimonials and success stories.

Ability to translate technical details and implementation success into engaging stories consumable by diverse audiences

Professional and self-motivated leader and team member, that can organize and manage projects across functions (especially with Marketing and Sales) and with multiple stake-holders and contributors

Outgoing with dynamic interpersonal and top-notch verbal and written communication skills.

Superior writing, editing, and copywriting skills, across a broad scope of external and internal communication and marketing materials - from press releases to case studies to presentations.

Customer centric interest and tendencies

A self-managed, quick learner that can think independently, knows when and how to seek feedback, can move ahead and keep projects on pace, while still keeping everyone in the loop

A sense of urgency and the ability to be flexible and react quickly while maintaining a calm, reassuring demeanor

Knowledge of Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery models, ideally unified communications solutions

Knowledge of sales and marketing management tools like Salesforce, Marketo, etc.

Education: Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) Required. Advanced degrees appreciated.
