PATENT ATTORNEY
Responsibilities:
· Interact closely with research labs and provide guidance on patent law issues to engineers and designers
· Conduct prior art searches for related technologies and counsel invalidity and freedom to operate opinions based on such search results
· Collaborate with outside counsel to support patent prosecution
· Maintain a substantial and active prosecution docket of U.S. and foreign patent applications
· Advise inventors on patent matters
Qualifications:
· J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
· Member of California Bar
· Member of USPTO
· At least 5 years of patent prosecution experience
· Experience as an in-house IP counsel with mid-size or larger corporation
· BS and higher education in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering and/or Communication Systems/Telecommunication/Signal Processing and related fields
· Work experience in Computer Science, Consumer Electronics Industrial Design, or Communication Systems/Telecommunication/Signal Processing
· Experience and understanding of the litigation implications of the quality of successfully prosecuted patents for a market-leading information technology corporation
· Experienced in supporting and working directly with inventors and senior research and development engineers, and identifying patentable inventions from research materials
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be a team player.
