The Family Giving Tree envisions a world where every child is made to feel like a valuable part of their community through a shared belief in the power of giving. The Family Giving Tree fulfills the exact holiday wish and provides backpacks filled with school supplies to those children in the most need in our communities while inspiring the values of kindness, philanthropy and volunteerism. In the 20th year of the program´s existence, the total number of gifts and backpacks donated had grown to over 700,000, making the Family Giving Tree the largest gift and backpack donation program in California.

This position is responsible for managing all the volunteering elements of the organization, and is the link between employees and other volunteers.

Specific duties may include:
- Supervise volunteers and manage projects.
- Engage new volunteers by holding training sessions and meetings within the community and on local media.
- Produce descriptions of volunteer work.
- Conduct regular meetings with volunteers about upcoming events and ongoing needs.
- Keep records for number of hours worked and the duties for volunteer positions.
- Develop a reward system to recognize and encourage accomplishments of volunteers.
- Create reports to be submitted to management, and also include recommendations that will be beneficial to the volunteer program.

Key Competencies:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage different tasks.
- Capacity to deal with diverse types of people, especially in stressful situations.
- Empathize and understand the needs of co-workers.

Education/Experience:
- Previous experience in coordinating volunteers preferred.
- College degree in any course. Preferred courses are in business, education, human resource management and social work.
- Experience dealing with classified information.
