Senior User Experience Researcher

Technical professionals are defined by what they create. Samsung has the risk-taking corporate culture, strategic R&D investments, and global know-how to imagine, develop, and market products that lead the industry.   Samsung's User Experience Center, located in San Jose, is currently recruiting world-class engineers who share our "Innovation through passion" philosophy and thrive in a fast-pace, results-driven environment. The candidate will be a part of an innovative, user-centered approach to user experience design that will drive improvements in the architecture, usability, and visual design of Samsung software and products. Ready to re-imagine yourself? Imagine who you can become at Samsung.

We are looking for a Senior User Experience Researcher who is passionate about delivering leading-edge interactive entertainment experiences to join the Visual Displays Design Research team. This individual will be responsible for discovering factors that drive consumer delight, and translating these insights into actionable knowledge that will impact product design.

Senior UX researchers drive generative research agendas and leverage expert knowledge in cognitive science, applied human factors, and interaction design for consumer products. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and executing rigorous research methods to identify, understand, evaluate, and communicate complex software interaction experiences.  Senior UX researchers work closely with designers, program managers, and hardware and software engineers in a highly collaborative environment. This individual must work effectively with these partners to plan, conduct, and communicate user insights and product testing research.  Highly polished visual and verbal presentation skills are a must. This position demands an individual that is organized, detail-oriented and results-driven. Strategic thinking and creativity are critical attributes.

Required qualifications:

Ph.D. or MA/MS in Experimental or Cognitive Psychology, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field

5+ years of industry experience conducting user research and driving actionable outcomes with product teams
Experience planning end-to-end research strategy aligned with software planning, design, and development cycles
Extensive experience with rigorous quantitative and qualitative user research methodologies (e.g. usability  testing and benchmarking, surveys, analytics analysis, A/B testing, eye tracking, diary and ethnographic studies)
Strong statistical analysis skills; familiarity with parametric and non-parametric statistics and the various statistical packages used for analysis (SPSS, Statistica, etc.)
Facility for uncovering root causes of research outcomes: deconstructing interface designs from a system-wide view into meaningful component parts, and demonstrating the significance of each part's relationship to the system as a whole
Demonstrated ability to visualize and present rich research data simply and clearly, as part of a cross-functional team, in a fast-paced environment
Strong oral and written communication skills; experience presenting to internal and external executive-level audiences
Desired qualifications:

Mentoring or management experience
Experience with advanced methods for exploring consumer perceptions and establishing causal relationships between perceptions and product attributes (Multidimensional Scaling, Factor Analysis, Regression Analysis, etc.)
Experience building and managing a sustainable base of design research knowledge that is leveraged across design and business teams
Skill in the development of rapid prototypes and/or automated data collection tools
