The Director of Site Merchandising is responsible for defining a site merchandising strategy that is consistent with Shutterfly's branding and business goals, and for overseeing the execution of that strategy. This position will report to the Head of eCommerce and work closely with the GMs, Branding, Imperative Marketing, Pricing/Promos and Creative Services teams as well as partnering with Product Management and Engineering
Responsibilities include:
Develop deep understanding of the customer and competitive landscape
Lead a team to define site merchandising strategy and oversee site merchandising operations
Define Shutterfly's long-term site merchandising strategy in alignment with target customer, branding and business goals
Define the quarterly site merchandising calendar, including key drive times, in partnership with the Brand team and GMs
Develop creative briefs and partner with Creative team to finalize assets
Oversee execution of site merchandising calendar in partnership with the Engineering and Web Production teams
Support new product launches, promotions and other merchandising and marketing initiatives as needed.
Lead analysis of site data to identify and prioritize site merchandising optimization opportunities
Identify and pursue opportunities for continuous improvement
Drive innovation through application of site merchandising best practices and testing
Optimize cross-functional processes for site merchandising
Define strategy for and lead execution of cross-brand merchandising to other Shutterfly Inc. sites (i.e., Tiny Prints, Wedding Paper Divas, Treat)
Provide guidance on site experience for new features/functionality
Key Metrics
Meet or exceed revenue goals
Increase conversion
Increase AOS
Reduce bounce rates
Increase new customer registration
Increase project starts and overall site engagement
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required
7+ years experience in site merchandising for top-tier consumer brands
Deep knowledge of site merchandising best practices
Proven ability to link knowledge around branding and target customers to key site merchandising elements in order to drive the business
Strong site merchandising "eye"
Well-versed in site analytics and proficient in analyzing data for site merchandising decision making
Strong creative, analytical and intuitive problem-solving skills
Ability to partner well cross-functionally and build strong partner relationships; leads but also builds consensus as needed
Strong drive towards innovation and continuous improvement
Experience developing and leading teams
Strong project management and interpersonal skills
Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
