Optics Global Commodity Manager
The Optics Global Commodity Manager is responsible for leading the Juniper Global Commodity Team to i) identify optical technology and business issues amongst Juniper development groups, product marketing managers and the industry, ii) collaborate with the Juniper Optical experts to define and develop a global sourcing strategy, iii) represent Juniper's needs to the industry and drive strategic partnerships to enable aligned investments, iv) identify sourcing opportunities and negotiate best of breed pricing and terms, v) lead development and commercial contract negotiations, vi) drive value engineering activities with a cross functional team, and vii) manage supplier relationships and performance. The successful candidate will balance both tactical and strategic issues concurrently. The candidate must possess technical knowledge, business acumen, program management fluency, and excel in interpersonal communication, teamwork, conflict resolution and relationship management skills. The candidate will take a leadership role in working with peers, managers and executives of the Juniper and Supplier Manufacturing and Business Units. The candidate will also be responsible for purchased computer assemblies for routing engines during a transitional period of the sourcing strategy.

• Extensive exposure and experience in Optics, Datacom, Connectors, Electromechanical Systems technical and manufacturing issues
• Align suppliers and Juniper technology roadmaps through understanding of market trends, Juniper future requirements, and suppliers' technology value proposition
• Develop suppliers to enable innovativriers ology strategyp, Datacom commoditydeskslementation/or Datacom productse products/solutions to align with Juniper roadmap
• Collaborate with Juniper Optics experts and architects to drive sourcing decisions
• Be trusted partner and thought leader to product and development team
Supplier Management and Sourcing
• Define supplier selection criteria
• Rationalize supply base and develop targeted preferred supplier list
• Drive RFIs and RFPs, and award process for Optics and Electromechanical solutions
• Manage Supplier relationship and performance
• Coach suppliers to be successful in Juniper to enable true win-win scenarios.
• Scorecard suppliers and lead business reviews with Juniper and Supplier Executives
• Negotiate and execute NDA, Master Purchase Agreements, DLA, generate Memorandums of Agreement/Understanding, SoW and/or Joint Development Agreements
• Manage Supplier factory audits with cross functional, component quality and component engineering teams.
Education Experience
• B.S. in Optics, Material Science, Electrical Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering with combined 10 years of Engineering and Manufacturing Experience.
• Preferred M.S. in Engineering and/or MBA with 10+ years of Optics Global Commodity Management, Manufacturing, or Management experience in optical transceiver or subcomponents.
• Preferred knowledge of computer assemblies, suppliers, and corresponding subcomponents, for routing engines
• Direct Experience in Optics, Electromechanical Systems and/or Datacom commodity
• Direct Experience product line management (PLM) or Sales of optical transceivers
• Possesses strong knowledge of network systems and solution, manufacturing processes and procedures, the overall optical product and manufacturing process, and the sub-tier optical component supply base
• Strong, positive, can-do attitude
• Self-motivated and directed
• Demonstrated strong leadership and influencing skills
• Demonstrated experience and exposure with CEM, ODM and JDM Mfg. model
• Demonstrated ability to drive and close cross-functional project initiatives
• Travel 10%
