Position Responsibilities – Summary
The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and extending transactional and reporting database systems for trading related applications as part of the Trading Services team. Support production systems requiring design, infrastructure build, performance tuning, capacity management, and systems integration. Promote best practice IT processes and architectural best practices.
Responsibilities:
· Organize efforts related to the database environments and drive work to timely completion
· Maintain stability and performance of the database environment
· Deploy database stacks in Amazon as part of the migration effort to AWS
· Recommend appropriate AWS DBMS based on applications actual usage and requirements
· Perform proactive performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting and issue resolution
· Deploy and maintain both SQL Plan Manager and Oracle Resource Management
· Perform database capacity planning, trend analysis and predict future database resource requirements
· Implement back-up, recovery, cloning, archiving and conversion strategies
· Maintain database health through patching, table reorganizations
· Support database refreshes by migrating data from production to lower environments
· Participate in Disaster Recovery testing
Required Skills and Competencies:
· A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field plus six years of Oracle DBA experience including 11g and 12c. Will accept a Bachelor’s degree plus eight years of described experience.
· Superior verbal and written communication skills
· The ability to lead through influence using a fact based approach
· Four years of experience implementing and supporting Oracle
· Two years of Database management and tuning on the Exadata platform
· One to two years of experience with Oracle deployments in AWS, RDS or single instance
· Replication software, Shareplex, Goldengate or HVR
· Demonstrated knowledge of Oracle utilities, including RMAN, OEM 12c, and DataGuard
· Demonstrated knowledge of Oracle advance features for failover, load balancing, Cluster Services
· Demonstrated knowledge of Oracle tuning utilizing advanced SQL methodologies and AWR
· Demonstrated knowledge of Oracle standard maintenance including Patching, upgrades and migrations
· Demonstrated knowledge of Kerberos and Data Encryption methodologies
· Demonstrated Scripting and automation skills utilizing Unix Shell or SALT
· ITIL change, incident and problem management
· Financial services experience and knowledge is a differentiator
Keys to the Position:
· Strong Oracle DBA skills with at least 10 and 11g. 12c is a plus.
· Strong Performance Tuning skills with SQL Plan Manager
