Accounting Manager

Summary:
We seek a hands-on Accounting Manager to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Company's head of finance, this position will be integrally involved in all accounting and financial aspects of the organization.
Responsibilities Include:
• Responsible for the generation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements including corresponding account reconciliations.
• Perform continuous assessment of A/P, A/R, Inventory, Payroll, GL, and Financial Reporting processes, including development/revision of policies and procedures.
• Assist in 3-year budget and quarterly forecasts.
• Prepare monthly departmental financial reports and corresponding analysis of spending versus budget, and implications on corporate cash needs.
• Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures including but not limited to:
o Ensure proper approvals for payments, and company financial commitments
o Oversee purchasing function from an ordering, approval and receiving perspective
• Analyze budget versus actual variances, as well as contract fulfillment adherence; initiating corrective actions.
• Maintain accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts; defining accounting policies and procedures.
• Work with other organizational departments by applying accounting/finance principles to formulate recommendations to operational issues.
• Maintain financial security by establishing internal controls, especially in the tracking and accounting of fixed assets and computer hardware.
• Maintain accounting compliance by understanding current and proposed GAAP regulations and recommend new procedures. Research complex accounting topics in conformity with US GAAP.
• Work with accounting firm on annual financial audits.
Experience Skills:
• 5+ years' experience in budget development and budget expense tracking. Experience within early stage Life Sciences companies is a strong plus.
• Solid knowledge of SFAS Rules and standard Accounting Processes.
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with and influence different functional groups at all levels of management.
• Ability to scale the company's finance area as the company grows.
• Strong attention to detail, decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to successfully manage multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-starter with ability to deal with ambiguity within a dynamic, startup environment.
• Knowledge of QuickBooks required, along with proficiency in Excel (particularly Pivot Tables) and Word.
• Experience with Point Purchasing and Solium Stock Option Software a plus.
• CPA or CMA desired.
