IT Applications Manager
This position is responsible for managing the support and development team of one of the client’s mission critical custom developed product suites. Reporting to the Director of IT Applications, the position involves coordinating resources and processes to ensure timely delivery of product enhancements and product support.
Essential Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
· Responsible for managing the support of and continued development of mission-critical in-house developed applications
· Work closely with IT Application Management and Business users to understand business requirements and ensure timely and accurate development of Development Specification Documents
· Take into account existing resource commitments and business priorities to make the most effective assignments of resources to projects and development needs
· Manage Application Support queue by triaging, prioritizing, and assigning incoming tickets, and driving them to closure in a timely and accurate manner
· Ensure cross-training across the team to prevent single resource dependencies
· Work with IT Application Management to escalate issues within IT or within the Business
· Provide all requisite tasks associated with a Manager-level position such as supervisory, employee development, handling/identifying staffing changes, and management of sub- contractors
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications
· Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience Minimum 8 years of related experience required, with at least 3 years having been as a manager of a similar function
· Experience with developing specifications, implementing development and support processes, and interacting with Business Management
· Experience with development in C++ and PL/SQL
· Experience in the intermodal or transportation industries preferred
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to identify problems, process resolution and implement action or solution timely
· Ability to function effectively in a fast paced, team oriented work environment
· Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workloads Flexibility to quickly adapt to change
· Conflict resolution skills
Work Environment
· This position requires long periods sitting behind a desk and performing tasks on a computer.
· The software products that we develop support business operations that can run 24x7, especially during Billing cycles. As a result there may be times where after hours work is required.
· This job function is performed in an office setting requiring normal safety precautions.
· Tempo is fast-paced with stringent deadlines.
