Principal Architect, OpenStack Data Center Design Responsibilities | - Lead on the design, implementation and operations of a private state-of-the-art cloud environment using OpenStack for internal R&D environment
- Lead on the development of proprietary services supporting the private cloud operation
- Lead on creating a deployment operation system (DevOps)
- Documentation of work and operations systems
- Design and configure the various OpenStack components to create your own reliable and scalable private cloud infrastructure
- Understand how a cloud-based IT infrastructure differs from a conventional data center design
- Familiar with the terminology used by cloud professionals and understand OpenStack-related concepts
- Understand the various Linux networking, storage, configuration and provisioning techniques available in the enterprise world, especially the ones that are part of the OpenStack project
- Evaluate the security risks associated with cloud computing and how to address them
| Qualifications | Required Knowledge/Skills: - Bachelors of Science in Computer Science or Equivalent
- Understanding of cloud computing domain, key players and technologies.
- Self-starter, taking initiative and requiring minimal oversight.
- Ability to spot trends and recommend solutions.
- Experience with HA solutions; HA-proxy, Pacemaker, Corosync.
- Linux/UNIX experience at the user and administrator levels
- Experience with cloud based deployments (OpenStack)
- Automation of SCM, build and deployment activities using tools such as Puppet, Cobbler and Chef
- Implementation of monitoring of services using tools such as Nagios etc.
- Successful deployment and operation of services in cloud environments (e.g. Amazon or Rackspace or VMware)
- Virtualization experiences (KVM knowledge is a plus)
- Demonstrable skill with at least one dynamic scripting language (Python, Ruby)
- Excellent understanding of data center organization, including hardware configurations and networking
