Please refer to our website: www.rsfsocialfinance.org <br /><br /> Position Summary:<br /><br /> This position is a combination of two roles: (1) a senior commercial loan underwriter who focuses on underwriting of new and existing commercial loans to the most catalytic social entrepreneurs in the USA and Canada, including formula-based ARIF lines of credit, commercial owner-occupied real estate credits, and equipment loans, for non-profit and for-profit social entrepreneurs, and (2) a manager who leads RSF's underwriting process. The Underwriting Manager provides oversight to and participates in loan performance monitoring and compliance processes; realizes and administers portfolio management policies, methods, and reporting; and partners with the Social Enterprise Lending Business Development Team to ensure effective communication, hand-offs, and values-aligned client engagement. This position supervises the Associate, Credit & Portfolio Management.<br /><br /> Essential Duties & Responsibilities:<br /><br /> Credit Underwriting <br /><br /> • Evaluate risk, social impact, and financial sustainability of new and existing clients.<br /><br /> • Underwrite new loans, amendments, and roll-overs that meet RSF's standards for credit quality, social impact, and revenue targets.<br /><br /> • Perform financial analysis and research for new loan inquiries.<br /><br /> • Conduct industry analysis to examine suitability of potential clients. <br /><br /> • Collaborate with lending managers and documentation team to develop appropriate loan structures to manage credit and risks of the loans.<br /><br /> • Recommend and present credits for approval to the RSF Credit Committee. Serve as a voting member of the RSF Credit Committee.<br /><br /> • Present loans for approval to the RSF Board Loan Committee. Coordinate and communicate with Board Loan Committee members as needed.<br /><br /> Credit Administration<br /><br /> • Manage the underwriting pipeline and process from executed term sheets to funding.<br /><br /> • Develop and administer underwriting procedures and tools.<br /><br /> • Recommend, develop, and implement credit monitoring and measurement tools.<br /><br /> • Recommend and implement loan flow process improvements.<br /><br /> • Administer RSF's Credit and Loan Policies.<br /><br /> Loan Monitoring<br /><br /> • Oversee the review of borrowing base certificates and disbursement requests for accuracy and compliance with loan terms.<br /><br /> • Manage the monitoring of borrower financial performance and compliance with all reporting and financial covenants, including social impact assessments.<br /><br /> • Assess and sign off on documented compliance exceptions.<br /><br /> • Liaise and engage with clients to discuss financial performance and growth plans. <br /><br /> • Serve as a resource for lending managers and credit analysts regarding credit and portfolio matters.<br /><br /> Other Duties<br /><br /> • Assist with special projects and provide support to the Director, Portfolio Management & Loan Operations as needed.<br /><br /> • Occasionally attend and participate in RSF Community Pricing Meetings.<br /><br /> Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: <br /><br /> Education and Experience: <br /><br /> Required qualifications: <br /><br /> • An undergraduate degree, preferably in Business or Finance.<br /><br /> • 5 years of credit underwriting and administration experience in a community bank commercial credit department, credit union, CDFI, or similar financial institution. <br /><br /> Preferred qualifications: <br /><br /> • 7+ years of relevant experience in the commercial credit department of a community bank, credit union, CDFI, or similar financial institution.<br /><br /> • MBA and/or other relevant advanced degree.<br /><br /> • Demonstrated analytical ability, including the ability to understand repayment risks in various industries and mitigate them to the satisfaction of RSF and social entrepreneurs.<br /><br /> • Experience implementing projects and credit and loan policies, and procedures.<br /><br /> • Demonstrated passion for developing strong and sustainable credit culture.<br /><br /> • Self-motivated credit professional that is comfortable operating in a changing industry.<br /><br /> • Supervisory experience preferred but not required. <br /><br /> • Familiarity with social finance, social enterprise, and working with both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations is strongly preferred.<br /><br /> English Language Communication Skills: Must have strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce initial credit memorandums for approval, articulate RSF's lending philosophy and loan products, and converse by telephone with potential and existing clients. <br /><br /> Finance and Math Skills: Must have a solid grasp of for-profit and non-profit accounting, advanced credit analysis and financial modeling. Must have a solid grasp of asset and cash flow based credit analysis. <br /><br /> Technical Skills: Must be able to effectively use standard business software such as Microsoft Office Suite, and to use the Internet for research and information-gathering.<br /><br /> Judgment and Independence: Must be extremely detail oriented, exercise good judgment, and manage time effectively. Ability to work collaboratively with staff members and effectively interact with clients. <br /><br /> Physical Demands: Must be able to use a computer for extended periods of time up to 8 hours per day; and must be able to frequently communicate orally and by telephone. <br /><br /> Attendance and Availability: Must be able to work at RSF's offices during regular office hours as set forth in RSF's Employee Manual, and to occasionally work extra hours as necessary to complete time-sensitive projects.
