Automobile Insurance Claims Appraiser positions w/ TRAVELERS - New Jersey
Travelers is seeking candidates for our Automobile Insurance Claims Appraiser positions–
The 5 locations are specifically throughout New Jersey.
JOB SUMMARY:
NORTH EAST NJ TERRITORY:
This includes collision, comprehensive, property damage related to automobiles, rental & towing as well as fire, theft, flood, lightning, diminished value claims & any claims that involve injuries
This position also has responsibility for complete claim hauling (i.e. first notice of loss through resolution/settlement & payment process) on claims that meet specific criteria as defined by Automobile Product guidelines. This subset of claims makes up approximately 15-20% of the total workload volume.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES & RESP. (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
•Negotiate w/ repair facilities on revisions to repair costs, including but not limited to: replacement labor times, repair labor, alternative parts usage, customary or special discounts, tax application, betterment, paint allowances, material costs, sublet repairs, deductible application, calculation errors & incidental expenses.
•For applicable Total Loss claims determine settlement amounts based on independent judgment, estimation of actual cash value & replacement value, appraisals, application of applicable limits & deductibles. Negotiate & convey claim settlements w/in authority & initiate payment to the customer.
•Partner w/ the Automobile Claim Professional throughout the life of the claim. Partnership from initial investigation through final recovery to ensure appropriate claim resolution & pursuit of alternative recovery sources (e.g. Subrogation, SIU, etc.).
•Provide all lines of business & departments, i.e. property, Boat & Yacht, Inland Marine, Public Sector, etc. w/ inspection assistance as needed, including Catastrophe response.
•Effectively manage work assignments & track savings & referrals.
•Achieve & maintain appropriate technical expertise, certifications & regulatory required licenses through successful completion of company & industry classes & training.
•Provide operational intelligence to Travelers business partners through accurate data reporting.
• Develop & deliver training sessions on technical areas or frequently asked questions as requested.
•Communicate claim damage assessment following negotiation of value w/ repair facilities.
EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE:
ASE Certification & College or Technical School degree required
Typically has 2 to 5 years' experience in automobile appraisal, preferably w/ an insurance company.
Technical skills include Excel & Word. Ability to promptly travel, w/ little or
Demonstrated ownership attitude & customer centric response to all assigned tasks.
Ability to remain current on jurisdictional laws & regulations, & communicating compliance requirements to other claim staff as appropriate.

Requires weekend work hours
Requires extended periods (1 or more weeks) of travel as needed
