Accounting Manager/Controller position with Lamp Post Group - Chattanooga, Tennessee

 

Lamp Post Group is seeking a versatile professional to join our team as an Accounting Manager/Controller (depending on experience) that will primarily have oversight for the development and management of financial accounting records for a new international freight brokerage division.  Such oversight will include the proper application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and management of the related accounting software. In addition, this accountant will provide other accounting services to several of the Lamp Post Group managed companies.

Essential duties include the following.

•             Ensure that appropriate accounting adjustments are recorded to comply with the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

•             Take a leadership role in the implementation of the accounting portion of the international freight division software system.

•             Evaluate and ensure the proper translation of foreign currency transactions, as appropriate.

•             Plan, develop, recommend and implement accounting procedures and systems to ensure compliance with internal controls.

•             Manage, review, and approves the reconciliation of general ledger balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.

•             Keep abreast of related financial regulations impacting the organization.

•             Improve processes for more efficient practices.

•             Assist with other relevant projects and duties as assigned by Supervisor.

•             Maintain good relationships with representatives of our external financial partners.

 

Desired Skills & Experience

•             International freight experience and Cargo-Wise software experience a plus.

•             Working knowledge of accounting for foreign currency translations a plus.

•             Must have excellent analytical skills and the ability to synthesize business/financial data.

•             Strong organizational, prioritizing skills and time management skills.

•             Attention to detail, discrepancies, and high level of accuracy with accounts.

•             Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions.

•             Experience in the analysis and reporting of financial data.

•             Strong computer skills with various software including Microsoft Office, E-Mail and Internet.

•             Must be able to read, speak, write and comprehend English.

 

Education & Experience:

•             Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

•             CPA Certification is preferred.

•             4-8 years’ experience, with 2-4 years in a management role preferred.

•             Technical accounting experience preferred.

•             International experience/exposure preferred.
