Marketing Communications Manager

Compensation: $50,000 - $60,000/year plus benefits, based on experience

Want to help make a difference in the lives of thousands of Bay Area children and families? Our growing
nonprofit is looking for a passionate and dedicated Marketing Communications Manager who will
develop and execute a strategic marketing communications plan. Components of this will include
facilitating media relations, creating targeted marketing plans, developing communications materials
and writing stories that convey the organization's mission through the eyes of affected children and
families.
Summary of position:
The Marketing Communications Manager will support organization goals, including those related to
operations, marketing and fundraising. In order to do this successfully, our ideal candidate must
demonstrate strong relationship and cultivation skills, possess media relations experience and have a
track record for nurturing media contacts. A strong networker is a benefit as well as the ability to work
internally across different functions or departments. Experience in social and conventional media is
required. Strong writing skills are essential, as well as proficiency in various writing styles, from writing
press releases to marketing materials and social posts. The ability to analyze and report results and
proficiency at project management also is important.
Responsibilities include:
Direct the development and execution of marketing communications initiatives including annual
campaigns, social site presence, company website, public relations and events. Ensure new
communication campaigns and programs are aimed at reaching appropriate targets.
Establish, own and drive a strategic internal and external communications strategy that positively affects
donors, sponsors, hosts and volunteers understanding, engagement and commitment with the result of
an even stronger connection to the Family Giving Tree and leads growth.
Manage brand delivery and consistency across all markets.
Build and manage the communications budget.
Actively lead, build and manage the Marketing/Communications Department including Communications
Coordinator, Marketing Coordinator, and Events Coordinator to produce high quality publications and
materials on time and within budget.
Manage relationships with outside vendors, as necessary.
Drive continual process improvements and implement best practices to manage projects efficiently.
Collaborate closely with Directors in Development and Programs.
Through personal example, establish the style and approach, which meets overall company values and
expectations.
Obtain and share impact stories.
Oversee production and delivery of all online print collateral and promotional material on behalf of the organization.
Act comfortably as a spokesperson for the organization.
Additional hours and responsibilities as assigned, including various support roles during warehouse operations in August and December. No vacations are permitted December 1-22.
Desired Skills and Experience:
5 years experience in Public Relations, Media Relations or Marketing Communications (Non-Profit work preferred)
Management experience.
Bachelor's Degree (Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field preferred)
