Description

A Benefits Delivery Manager (BDM) is accountable for the overall management of benefits client services and associates within their Client Delivery Group (CDG). A delivery group can consist of one large client or a group of clients (groups of clients being the norm) and includes all Benefits services delivered (multi-service). The BDM serves as the "single point of accountability" for Benefits delivery with clients and internally. The BDM is accountable for meeting or exceeding the client's benefits delivery expectations to ensure satisfaction, and the retention and future expansion of business. The BDM is also responsible for team and financial performance. For new client relationships, the BDM is responsible for establishing the client relationships prior to live date, as well as preparing for the ongoing environment.

Responsibility Areas

* Works with account executive to build and manager client relationships and client planning. Conducts quarterly stewardship meetings to measure client satisfaction.

* Supports the account executive in developing the overall benefits client business plan, including measurable targets, ensuring performance standards are met. These operations are monitored through quarterly operations meetings/client reviews.

* Drives accountability/integration within Client Service Teams, Multi-Client Service Groups, virtual teams and third parties through Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

* Manages client's benefits delivery budget, forecast and variance reporting. Uses internal tools for client and monitors proper billing practices for the benefits delivery with account executives, Billing, and Finance team.

* Establishes cost budget, monitors costs, drives effective cost-management practices, and deploys cost-reduction initiatives for all cost drivers (computer/technology, associate, and unit). Drives operational improvements to reduce costs.

* Oversees and approves accurate fee quotes for one-time projects; captures out-of-scope work, collaborates with the account representatives to recover revenue.

* Reviews upcoming projects with Project Manager to identify areas of potential revenue.

* Defines and/or approves client staffing needs--including creating capacity, working with Project Manager (PM), Benefits Implementation Manager (BIM), Domain Managers (DM), Customer Service (CS) Managers, and Business Group Manager (BGM).

* Manages the team

* Leverages the talent/resources on the team to generate results

* Monitors associate performance to ensure results are achieved in an effective/efficient way

* Conducts necessary performance management conversations with associates; uses tools and resources available internally to managers

* Educates, reinforces, and holds associates accountable for behaviors that support internal policies and guidelines (e.g., Code of Conduct, Data Privacy).

* Builds strong client relationships during and after implementation

Qualifications

Formal Education & Certification
* Advanced degree preferred; Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
Knowledge & Experience
* Expert Project Management experience required (8-10+ years) including proficient project planning and execution skills.
* Strong financial accumen.
* HR experience preferred.
* Experience managing complex client relationships (including, but not limited to, client operations/relationships that may have larger/more complex scope).
* Benefits Administration knowledge highly desirable; experience in specific area of responsibility preferred (Employee Benefit Outsourcing-annual enrollment, employee benefit plans).
* Proficient in coaching others (minimum 1 1/2-2+ years of experience) and experience coaching/leading other managers and peers in certain efforts or operational activities.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills; the ability to liaise and partner with people outside of the HR function.
* Proficient relationship management and customer-focus skills and the ability to coach, lead, and leverage other managers and peers in these skills.
* Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to coach, lead, and leverage other managers and peers in these skills
