The Sage Group is looking for a Brand Manager to work for a for an active lifestyle packaged goods company in the East Bay. This individual will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling business and marketing efforts throughout the life of the assigned brand, in keeping with overall marketing strategies and annual business plans.

Responsibilities Include:
- Collaborate with the Brand Director to develop strategies that effectively maintain or improve brand awareness, perceived brand quality and usefulness, and positive brand associations over time. Manage the implementation of strategies to manage brand equity in line with the company's stated annual and long-range goals.
- Work with R&D, sales and operations management and other members of the marketing management team to develop business plans for new and existing products. Develop annual business plans and budgets to implement strategies.
- Effectively manage the brand P&L drawing on experience, quantitative data, and insights into the ongoing needs of the brands to help determine and manage to financial targets. Identify key success factors in plans, closely monitor business performance across functional areas and make changes to business plans and strategy as necessary.
- Direct efforts of staff and external resources in the ongoing assessment of the competitive market position of current brands, and the identification of opportunities for new products.
- Capture all learnings from internal and external market research and incorporate intelligence on trends over time into development of brand strategies.
- Identify, assess and recommend actions in response to threats to brand position and identify opportunities to strengthen consumer and distributor perception of product and to develop new product and brand concepts that will enhance market share.
- Work with cross-functional marketing teams to develop annual communications plans. Provide leadership in the strategic development, design and execution of program design and placement. Initiate, plan and coordinate product packaging design and enhancements, creation of POS, sales support, promotional and other visual materials in accordance with brand objectives.
Skills Required:
- 1-2 years of CPG experience at a brand manager level
- Knowledge of and ability to apply marketing principles and practices
- Strong ability to inspire and motivate and coordinate self and others.
- Experience with Nielsen/IRI
- Possess an ability to turn financial data into sound business decisions
- Superior verbal, written and presentation skills
- Familiarity with product and packaging development, and market research processes
Skills Preferred:
- MBA Degree
