FutureWei Technologies, Inc. (dba Huawei R&D USA) is a leader in Network research and development. Many of the network processors are the engines that power Huawei's state-of-the-art optical networking; wireless networking, broadband access, data communications, and video conferencing products. The company provides enterprise network solutions, including data center, networking solutions, and cloud computing. FutureWei Technologies, Inc. also develops carrier network solutions comprising metro optical, long haul optical, optical networking, mobile network, and broadband. The company was founded in 2001 and has located its R&D Headquarters in Santa Clara, California, the heart of Silicon Valley.
We are creating a world class Telco Application Development PaaS research team in the Santa Clara area. This team will be responsible for the Telco application development platform. We are looking for a highly motivated engineer with strong design, software development, and networking fundamentals, who wishes to significantly impact next generations of Telco Application Development. We are looking for creative thinkers that can blend/combine in-depth knowledge and interest in IT PaaS, Big Data, and Telco application development (Including NFV/SDN). The ideal candidate will have considerable experience driving new technologies for telecommunication application development platform, strong communication skills, and ability to be an independent thinker. The candidate may start as a staff engineer, but must show clear potential to grow into a principal role with ability to be a higher level thinker, bring a unique ability to drive product technology.
Qualifications and Requirements
Apply strong application and system level design and development experience to build a open source technology based, developer-friendly, deployment environment agnostic PaaS targeting Telco application development
Work with highly motivated and skilled product managers and architects to explore new features and enhancements for the evolution of the Telco PaaS.
Participate in open source activities; contribute back to the open source communities.
Mentor other developers and drive the development process to deliver solid development platform
Demonstrate ability to be a “high level thinker” looking at the larger picture and bring new innovations and development approaches to the organization
Must Have:
8+ years of software design and development experience, with a solid cloud based software development background
Designed and developed for high availability platforms supporting cloud based applications.
Hands-on programming skill with at least two of the following languages: Java, Ruby, Go Language, Javascript, and C/C++.
Development experience working with highly scalable and performance servers like Apache HTTP server, and Nginx
Development experience working with highly scalable and performance message bus like ZeroMQ, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, and HornetQ
Good UNIX (Linux, Solaris, BSD) systems knowledge
Knows how to troubleshoot system and application server stability, memory, network, or functional issues in cloud environment.
Understanding of performance and scalability impact of functionality
Experience using and maintaining existing PaaS systems (Cloud Foundry, Openshift, Cloudify, Heroku, AWS, etc.)
Experience with open source project
Strong problem solving skills
Good communication skills and a team player
Experience with working in projects with overseas teams
Experience with Agile development process
BS in CS/EE required, MS/PhD in CS/EE preferred
Good to Have:
Experience in Big Data platform like BDAS, Hadoop, R, iPython Notebook
Experience developing on telecommunications platforms
Strong networking fundamentals
Good understanding and expertise with network virtualization. Knowledge of SDN/NFV/openflow/openstack, a plus
