Position Description:

Affymetrix Reagents offers its employees a dynamic work experience in the growing field of Life Science and Biotechnology. Our staff is a team of dedicated and creative individuals whose mission is to supply quality reagents which meet or exceed our customers´ needs.

*Position -- West Coast Industrial Executive Account Manager USB® Reagents -- CA Based (Bay Area Preferred)

-The successful candidate must have a record of sales accomplishment in the life science market, ideally in the biotech and private sector markets.

-Ideal candidate has prior success calling on multiple levels within an organization from end users to the executive office, in a highly competitive market.

-The candidate must be a strategic thinker who can develop innovative ways to meet assigned revenue targets and possess strong interpersonal, motivational and presentation skills.

-The position requires a BS or BA degree, preferably in the life sciences and will demand approximately 30% overnight travel.

The Industrial Executive Account Manager will be responsible for:

-Developing sales strategies to meet or exceed Company revenue objectives and accurately forecast sales volume and sales cycle time.
-Develop and maintain an adequate pipeline of new business opportunities to achieve corporate growth targets quarterly and annually.
-Develop a pipeline of new business opportunities and revenue growth within our Bulk, Large, OEM and Custom business.
-Candidate must have prior experience closing deals greater than $50,000.


Position Requirements:

• 7-12+ years experience in MB direct sales
• Biotech / Industrial sales experience required in reagents or capital equipment
• Life Science Degree (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology)
• Lab and research experience a plus
• Business Development experience or MBA a plus
• Strong biotech rolodex (Candidate will preferably have knowledge of key accounts and key decision makers) and experience selling into large pharma
• Close profitable business by meeting or exceeding sales goals and objectives
• Penetrate new accounts and develop a pipeline of new business in addition to managing existing accounts in assigned territory
• Ability to implement strategic and tactical plans both independently and with a team
• Candidate must possess excellent sales skills, including prospecting, negotiating, and closing
• Ability and experience selling into multi-levels within an organization (Purchasing, Product Managers, Directors, VP, CFO/CEO)
• Increase customer awareness of Affymetrix and advocate for all Affymetrix brands through lead generation programs
• Create and maintain relationships with customers to promote penetration, retention and loyalty • 30% Overnight travel
• Must be able to effectively maintain a home office
• Proven ability to work and succeed under minimal supervision
• Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communications skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills / ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
• Proven ability to manage a large geographic territory with diverse customer base
