Position Summary:

 

The essential responsibilities of the Database Administrator are to install, configure, design, administer, maintain, develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of the company databases, including patching, upgrading, and installation.  This role optimizes the Inventory (ECL) data environment by keeping databases finely tuned (queries/tables/indexes), by automating incoming and outgoing data feeds, and by troubleshooting any data access problems.  This position is based in Dallas, TX.

 

Primary Duties:

 

·         Resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues.

·         Designs and builds relational databases.

·         Develops strategies and implements solutions for data loading, archiving, backup, recovery and implementation of a database.

·         Cleans and maintains the database by archiving, removing and deleting stale data.

·         Installs and configures RDBMS software.

·         Supports software developers with database operations including the development of complex SQL, tuning of DML, and the creation of stored procedures.

·         Works with other departments to streamline data processes.

 

 

Requirements:

 

·         A minimum of 5 years of related experience

·         Bachelor's degree in computer-related field or equivalent experience

·         In-depth knowledge of database theory and best practices

·         Well versed in IBM DB2 SQL

·         Experience with IBM InfoSphere CDC or other similar data replication software

·         Experience with IBM DB2 installation and physical database administration Linux (preferred) or Unix platforms. 

·         Linux/UNIX scripting skills with Perl or shell scripts is required.

·         Experience with MySQL strongly desired but not required. 

·         Background in automotive industry or relevant interest.

·         Experience with other DealerTrack RDBMS platforms, particularly Oracle 11g and SQL Server 2008 desirable, but not required.

·         Experience with design tools (e.g. CA Erwin) desired but not required.

·         Experience with ETL tools (DataStage, Informatica, et al) desired but not required.
