Database Marketing Analyst

We're looking for a marketing analyst for a 40 hour a week contract (likely 6+ months) with a Fortune 500 software company in San Jose. 

The role is heavily focused on email and database analytics, and they are looking for someone who has the ability to up-level data into useable business trends/proactive info to help team stay ahead of the market.Database Marketing Analyst Job Description

The Database Marketing Analyst is responsible for the preparation and creation of ongoing as well as ad-hoc program reports that help inform key learnings and improve efficiency of marketing investment. The position calls for a strategic thinker who can provide the business and marketing team with actionable insights based on detailed analyses, user segmentation, targeting and data mining. The analyst will consult with their marketing partners to understand their analytical needs and will interface with the database reporting team for any changes to existing reporting and new report requests.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with partners to understand and document critical business needs for improved usability of data in support of analytic projects and communication objectives, e.g., segmentation strategies and tactics, reporting and tracking needs.

• Provide campaign reporting, insights and recommendations to BUs on a regular basis.

- Extraction of program performance data from various databases to prepare datasets for reporting/analysis

- Visualize key findings and insights using graphs, charts and data tables

- Track program performance over time

• Analyze user activities and assist in developing user segmentation and methodologies that support our marketing programs.

• Utilize expert knowledge of business data to drive requirements for improved targeting, reporting and analytics.

• Discover new paths for growth by uncovering untapped marketing opportunities

Qualification/Experience

• Must have advanced to expert knowledge of accepted customer relationship / database marketing best practices

- Job requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree and extensive practical experience in analyzing marketing data. Advanced degree a plus.

- 5-7 years of experience in database marketing using sophisticated database management and market intelligence software to build customer profiles/segmentation, mine the customer database to create actionable insights / reporting and optimize ongoing programs.

- Ability to speak the language of Marketing, Sales and IT in order to translate requirements and manage the analysis and reporting from a strategic perspective.

• Proficient with MS Suite including Excel and PowerPoint

• Experience with SQL or other relational database tools required

• Experience with Business Objects or other business intelligence tools a plus

• Able to work under demanding timeline
