Aspera, a fast-growing and profitable start-up in the San Francisco Bay Area creating leading edge data transport software, is seeking a highly technical and experienced Technical Product Marketing Manager responsible for the creation of a comprehensive portfolio of product marketing materials that directly support sales of Aspera software in multiple, diverse market verticals. A strong evangelist of Aspera technology and solutions, the Technical Product Marketing Manager will prepare sales tools and collateral that differentiate Aspera technology and products, deliver company presentations and product demonstrations in public settings, at industry events and conferences, as well as in recorded form.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have extensive experience creating thought leadership and sales support materials for high-tech companies, particularly in the areas of computer software and networking. The Technical Product Marketing Manager builds and maintains strong cross-functional relationships and bridges the gap between engineering, marketing, and sales to create and deliver high quality, targeted marketing materials.
• Create compelling and highly differentiated product and solutions briefs that incorporate all relevant messaging, product information, and technical architecture
• Write copy (or assist in developing content) for customer-facing marketing collateral including (but not restricted to) web pages, product and solutions datasheets, product brochures, press releases, advertising and tradeshow signage
• Conceptualize and design product and solution deployment diagrams
• Define ideal vehicles to convey specific technical information (graphs, tables, etc.)
• Create self-contained product demonstration and training videos, as well as interactive product/technology/company presentations to be used on the Aspera website and as sales or training support collateral
• Develop Keynote presentations to be used by sales and business development teams
• Develop sales support materials for channel partners to optimize their ability to sell Aspera solutions (presentations, standardized product information, etc.)
• Collaborate with Aspera's research team to deliver technology white papers and prepare abstracts and speaking submission for key conferences
• Assist sales and executive management in crafting responses to large-scale RFPs (requests for proposal)
• Develop hands-on, in-depth knowledge of competitive products and maintain technical analysis of competitive strengths and weaknesses
Required Skills
• BA/BS degree required, preferably in marketing and/or communications or software engineering, MBA desirable.
• 5-7+ years related product marketing experience in the high-tech industry
• Demonstrated ability to understand, articulate and communicate complex technical concepts
• Outstanding writing, communication, and presentation skills, including experience developing effective presentations and documents in PowerPoint and Word
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally (customer meetings and industry events
• Proactive work style, self-motivated, able to work independently and take initiative
