Senior Kernel Networking Engineer, contract
About the Team:
OS Core Technologies Team at Software Lab is built to drive the most advanced and critical OS technologies in Kernel and Networking areas, from concepts to engineering.
One current focus of the team is Elastic Network Infrastructure and solutions atop for sophisticated Cloud Computing Environments, for both Enterprise and Telco customers. We're looking for established professionals to join our team, supported by global development and testing teams, to together bring exciting changes to the industry.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze industry trends, emerging technologies, and customer requirements for network virtualization, SND, and NFV
- Advise management about technical directions
- Drive architectural design efforts and prototype complex kernel and network components
- Design for high-performance and high-availability of virtual networking
Required Experience and Skills:
- Master in C programming
- Familiarity with multi-thread programming, scripting, and XML
- Deep understanding of OS kernel, network, and virtualization technologies
- Deep understanding of CPU/Memory/IO/Device virtualization technologies
- Deep understanding of network stack, including TCP/IP, and various over-IP/Ethernet technologies
- Deep understanding of Ethernet and switching technologies and standards
- Extensive knowledge of kernel and network resource management, data center networking, and cloud networking
- Familiarity with x86/x64 architecture and standard IO buses, like PCI-E
- Solid experience in coding, debugging, and performance measurement
Competencies:
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent
- 6+ years development experience in OS Kernel, Networking, Virtualization, and/or relevant areas
