Software Engineer, WDDM

Responsibilities
The Interactive Devices Team is responsible for the virtualization of the keyboard, mouse and display (2D and 3D), controllers for the entire VMware product line. The Interactive Devices team is always on the lookout for exceptional systems engineers to join the team. We look for people who have a genuine curiosity about the latest hardware devices and the drive to find solutions to the tough problems encountered during virtualization. Leverage your WDDM knowledge gained in the physical world and put it to the test in the virtual world! Join the team implementing the WDDM driver for VMware's virtual hardware device. The position entails all phases of software development, including architecture, specification, implementation and unit test development.

Skills
• 2+ years experience writing WDDM drivers
• 3+ years programming in C or C++
• Strong debugging and performance analysis
• Minimum Bachelor Degree in Computer Science

Knowledge
• Strong comprehension of Windows OS kernel mode device driver development.
• Detailed knowledge of Windows internals (APIs and architecture) and PC architecture
• Knowledge of virtualization desired
• Knowledge of 3D (Direct3D/OpenGL) a plus

Use your knowledge of Direct3D and Direct3D driver development to improve VMware's virtual graphics device and host rendering subsystem. The position entails all phases of software development, including architecture, specification, implementation and unit test development.

Skills
• 3+ years experience with the Direct3D (9/10) Graphics API
• 2+ years experience with shader development tools and techniques, for Windows Vista or Windows 7
• 3+ years programming in C or C++
• Strong debugging and performance analysis
• Minimum Bachelor Degree in Computer Science

Knowledge
• Strong in 3D math, and good knowledge in the efficient use of GPUs
• Detailed knowledge of operating system internals (Linux, Windows, OS X) and PC architecture
• Solid understanding of X11, Windows GDI and/or OS X
• Knowledge of virtualization desired
