A well funded cleantech startup based in Redwood City, Ca is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join its software engineering/IT team. Our system consists of high transaction OLTP database and high volume data warehouse along with a distributed computing platform in a top hosted environment. Successful candidate must be a self-starter, problem solver and team player.
Responsibilities
¨ Build and manage highly scalable OLTP databases and data warehouses
¨ Design and maintain data model for EcoFactor's SaaS applications on Linux platform
¨ Scale up the databases through clustering and data partitioning for rapid growth in transactions and volume
¨ Build and support distributed database system
¨ Optimize databases through:
o Database systems configurations
o Refining data model
o SQL tuning
¨ Support and advise software engineers in areas related to database systems
¨ Establish efficient processes for database archiving and ETL from transaction-based databases to data warehouses
¨ Adopt industry standards technologies for high availability, fail-over and security
¨ Assist in systems and network administration for the SaaS system
Requirements
¨ 5+ yrs industry experience as a senior database administrator
¨ Hands-on experience in:
o MySQL database administration on Linux platform
o SQL tuning & optimization of high-volume OLTP and data warehouses
o Data modeling
o Database clustering & fail-over
o Data partitioning
¨ Experience in database systems security
¨ Nice-to-have experience:
o Distributed database systems such as Cassandra
o Distributed computing technology such as Hadoop
o BI analytics reporting system such as BIRT, JasperSoft
¨ Linux systems administration & server configuration
¨ Working knowledge in networking protocols and firewalls
¨ Local (SF Bay) candidate
