OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Human Resources – Retail, the Human Resources Business Partner is responsible for providing strategic HR support to retail leadership at the executive, regional, district, and store levels, and is also responsible for enabling management effectiveness by leading workforce planning and employee relations initiatives. This role also focuses on change management, performance management, discipline, investigations, and legal compliance. This is a full-time, exempt position.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Establishes and maintains partnerships with executive, regional, district, and store level retail leadership and acts as a business partner to assigned population.
• Counsels and assists executive as well as store retail leadership with employee development planning and retention.
• Provides counsel and support to retail leadership in resolving employee issues, executing disciplinary policies, conducting investigations, and monitoring case activity, ensuring follow through to resolution.
• Ensures implementation of and compliance with Peet's HR policies, procedures, and initiatives, and monitors compliance with all statutory and legal requirements.
• Writes and edits Human Resources policies and procedures to ensure accurate and consistent practice.
• Implements and executes proactive positive employee relations initiatives and monitors and responds to organizing activity.
• Counsels hiring managers regarding hiring practices and procedures and ensures compliance and understanding of EEO, hiring, and compensation guidelines.
• Assists in all aspects of onboarding and orientation of new retail leadership, and plays a lead role in coordinating and facilitating the internal transfer and reassignment process, especially with new store development.
• Analyzes compensation and benefit practices and administers work rules to help ensure fairness and consistency.
• Conducts ongoing information and training sessions on a variety of HR topics.
• Provides leadership in creating an energizing and productive culture, in cultivating Peet's values, and in making Peet's a great place to work.
• Partners with counsel to prepare for, and, as necessary, appear at, arbitrations, mediations, and other court proceedings.
• Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the team and the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 5+ years of diverse Human Resources experience with broad knowledge of staffing, employee relations, and performance management.
• Thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal employment law.
• Experience in a multi-unit environment (retail preferred).
• Ability to handle multiple priorities, make decisions, and resolve conflicts.
• Excellent communication and presentations skills. Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Must be a team player with superior coaching and consultative skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Ability to travel at least 25%.
• BA/BS and PHR preferred.
