The Travelers Field Human Resource organization is currently seeking a dynamic Human Resource Manager to join our team! As a Human Resource Manager, you will support approximately 300 employees within our Elmira NY Small Commercial Business Center. In this role, you will work closely with business partners and human resource colleagues to identify opportunities, influence decisions and drive results that will have a lasting impact on the business and our HR community.
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Human Resources Regional Vice President you would be responsible for driving results for all human resource efforts, including but not limited to, performance management, talent acquisition, management and development, organization design and effectiveness, diversity and inclusion, and workforce planning and analytics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
By acting as a trusted advisor, develops effective partnerships with business clients through consultation on human resources strategic and operational issues. Collaborates with management and employees to identify and resolve issues that achieve a balance between business and employee needs, and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.
Within the business and the HR community, participates in and supports strategic decision-making, facilitates process improvement, champions effective change, fosters team development and energizes organizational talent. Ensures business strategies, culture, practices and behaviors are aligned.
Partners with the business to attract and retain top talent, drive a culture of performance management, develop and prepare talent at all levels, leverage compensation to support organizational goals and maintain a positive employee relations environment.
Identifies the human capital resources and skills needed to achieve near- and long-term business goals. Develops and implements strategies and actions to address workforce needs. Uses workforce data and analytics to drive business results.
Supports and drives the implementation of business initiatives to raise awareness, increase inclusion and foster respect both within the organization and with external constituents. Leverages multiple vehicles to promote access to opportunity, retention and engagement of the workforce. Models diversity and inclusion.
Responsible for the day-to-day administration and oversight of core HR functions, including but not limited to, recruiting, compensation, employee relations, talent management and development, performance management, succession planning, organizational design and development, change management, and organizational culture and engagement.
Stays current and is aware of social, economic and other trends that may affect the business or the direction of human resources policies and programs. Sponsors, leads, and/or participates in building HR Generalist knowledge, skills and expertise. Develops own capabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field. Master's degree would be plus
Approximately 2-3 years of progressive HR generalist, or related experience.
HR functional (compensation, employee relations, recruiting, talent development, change management, succession planning) expertise.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
Viewed as a credible activist. Earns trust through driving results. Maintains a high level of judgment and discretion. Proven ability to handle highly confidential information in a professional manner.
Assumes ownership and responsibility for actions, outcomes, performance and results.
Proven ability to identify current and/or future issues and opportunities, analyze, synthesize and compare information. Exercises sound judgment, makes decisions and commits to a position.
