In this position, the individual will be responsible for architecting storage for SanDisk IT. Also, the individual will be responsible for storage engineering including backups, NAS, SAN and resolution of complex storage related incidents. The individual will work closely with the other infrastructure areas such as DBA, UNIX, SAP Basis etc. to deliver performance, scalable architecture. Develop the overall storage architecture as well as helping plan and architect storage for all projects. Assist remote sites architect storage to meet specific needs. Own the backup architecture to deliver performance, reliable backups. Act as the escalation point for resolving complex storage issues. The individual will create documentation for storage architecture and create SOPs for storage tasks. Work with vendors to leverage the value of our storage investment will be a responsibility and researching new storage technologies and making recommendations will be required. The individual will plan for the overall Information Lifecycle Management within the organization. Capacity Planning of storage infrastructure. Write and maintain documentation for relevant processes and procedures. Define and enforce Storage related Service Level Agreements.
This position requires a Bachelors degree or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years experience as Storage Engineer/Architect supporting large applications in a complex, heterogeneous production environment. In depth knowledge of Network Appliance storage including NTAP, clustering, vfilers, snapshots, snapmirror etc. Experience with Enterprise SAN like HDS 9990v or similar, Shadow Image, HiCommand, etc. as well as experience with Oracle Database 10g. Requires skills in Cisco Fabric Manager, Symantec NetBackup, RMAN, SAP BRTools, Exchange Storage Architecture, and strong Solaris skills related to storage. VMWare experience. Performance Tuning, optimization, and advanced troubleshooting of Storage Issues. Knowledge in Various Backup/Recovery Methodologies and Strategies. Familiarity with various tools and methods for administering the Storage infrastructure. Solaris Administration experience. SAP background and working knowledge of associated IO profiles as well as experience with Volume Manager like Veritas, Solaris or Oracle ASM. Excellent written and oral skills. Ability to operate independently. Ability to handle periods of high stress and to multi-task. This position requires an individual with a very strong technical foundation and superior analytical skills. The individual also needs to be able to communicate effectively in all formats and must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and deliver high quality output within tight timelines.
